| Even in this time of grief Pippin would be the one to make the most of the experience. Lovely description. Author Reply: I agree. The thing is, while he's going to be every bit as grieving as the other two, I see him as not knocked quite as flat by it. To my mind, I believe that he believes Frodo will heal and find new adventure where he's going. The Tookishness in them both, I guess, while for Sam and Merry, they hope he will heal, but they think more of what Frodo is losing and leaving behind. But he's still going to miss Frodo forever... | |

| I am a connoisseur of seaside descriptions and this is a fine one. :) Author Reply: Why thank you! I think Pippin might believe this was his only chance to see the sea, and that in spite of his sorrow, he would make the most of it. | |

| Oh, I loved that they saw Gil-Estel! What a neat touch! And I like Pippin's wondering how long the journey would take. And naturally, he'd wonder how long it would take for Frodo to arrive! | |
