Since I was caught by your latest one in this, I couldn't resist reading this one with Legolas (my fav character after Thranduil). Wow! What a fantastic and simple way to show a cultural difference. Loved it! Poor Sam would be horrified by Legolas's version. Author Reply: Thank you so much! I enjoy thinking about the differences (and similarities) between our beloved characters.

What a difference in cultures, and yet there are commonalities as well. Love how you illustrated that with this. :) Author Reply: Thank you, my friend. It's a challenge to fit so much into so few words.

Far more innocent indeed! And what a difference between a coney and a Balrog! On the other hand, Mirkwood was a very dangerous place for children. Just think about all those spiders and the Necromancer. Author Reply: I agree, what a place to grow up! Hopefully it became a place of light and peace after the War. Thank you for reading! :)

Definitely each was a proper lesson for the one being taught, although I like Sam's better. Author Reply: I think Legolas likes Sam's better, too. :)

It's a bit like teaching a child how to tie a bow, tieing the bunny ears together! Was Legolas tutor trying to scare him, balrogs indeed!? Huggs, LYnda Author Reply: I suspect he was trying to pass on ancient knowledge. And then when the Fellowship actually saw a Balrog in Moria... what a shock that must have been to Legolas.
