Hm ... strange what repercussions that Oath is having on Finrod. I hope that doesn't happen too often. Sure, it can be a warning of sorts that one of his vasalls is in danger, but imagine he's just out swimming and something like that happens again ... that could be quite dangerous. Seems to be a two-edged sword. Though Glorfindel's conclusion about battle distracting him makes sense, I had been wondering about that, too. During the wars of Beleriand, that must have happened a lot, after all. Picnic sounds like a good idea, assumed there are no more incidents. They need all a break and to get away from everything. Elves aren't any different from us Secondborn, weddings are the same hassle everywhere, it seems. Love that story about how Arafinwë and Eärwen did it! Author Reply: It's not an easy Oath to live with, that's for sure, but that's just the way it is and Finrod has to live with it. I'm sure Finrod was surprised to think his staid and proper parents ever did anything so not staid and proper. *grin* It's sometimes good to know your parents suffered through the same stuff you're going through. Helps to put things in perspective. Thanks for commenting, Kitty.

Okay, it's been a *really* long day for me, as I had an over to Sudbury and back for my Dental Checkup and Cleaning. I have to go back, but as I have two broken teeth, that wasn't a surprise. Oh the joys of being on Predisone long term to keep my Kidney Transplant happy. Anyway...I'm literally running on fumes here and will give a more indepth review either tomorrow or during the weekend. LOVE this chapter. Especially Arafinwe and Earwen's disclosure of how their Wedding went. Yi yi yi...At least in the end they got the Wedding they wanted. Even though no one was the wiser on the day for the Wedding for everyone else that is. :oD BTW...Thanks for giving me the needed kick in the rear to finally get my Rankin Family CD's loaded into my iTunes Library. Been meaning to do that for a year and a bit, but now that I need to refresh my memory on how Mist Covered Mountains sounds like, it might actually end up getting done this time. ;oD I was lucky enough to see them perform live in the Fall of 93 and it was one of the best Concerts I've ever been to. Can't wait for next Wednesday and I will do a longer review at some point in the next couple of days. :o) Author Reply: Hi Tigger. Glad you enjoyed the chapter. Thanks for letting me know. I appreciate and I look forward to your more in-depth review whenever you get around to it.

Great chapter, jajajaja, but poor Aldundil it must be the most embarrassing thing for an elf to stumble upon a tree ROOT!!!!!! Interesting story of Arafinwë and Eärwen wouldn't have thought they would have the guts to do that... poor Indis it must have been terrible to be constantly in the shadows of your husband's first wife, whom you are almost certain you will never compare in his heart... now I can almost understand her frustration with Fëanáro, because he made sure to not make things easy for her... but anyway I still sympathize with him, it must have equally horrible to know your mother doesn't care to return to you or your father and that his father can replace her so easily... though I don't think he really did and that's why Indis had it difficult in the beginning of her marriage and later on with the rivalry between Nolofinwë and Fëanáro... Anyway I have a question: what has happened to Nerdanel after Fëanáro left???? You never mention her... and she unlike her husband tried to get along with the family... was she exiled or is she a she-who-must-not-be-named???? Also I find it a little uncharitable of Arafinwë to not try to understand his nephews, I mean if Nolofinwë did and he SUFFERED the Helcraxe why shouldn't he??? They had lost everything following the oath their father made them take, also I think that by the time of the War of Wrath they were a little like madmen, holding on to the last thing that made "sense" to them for loosing and leaving everything they had behind in Aman. Author Reply: Hi Monalex. According to Tolkien, Nerdanel returned to the home of her father, Martan. I think, like Indis, who, according to Tolkien, retired to Lórien, she wants nothing to do with her husband's family, and is merely waiting for the day when her children are reunited with her. Arafinwë, unlike Nolofinwë, did not have to deal with the expediency of living on Morgoth's doorstep and therefore needing to bring all the Noldor together for survival purposes, so he had no reason (or ability) to "kiss and make up" as it were. Also, remember, that at the end, he must have felt doubly betrayed by Maedhros and Maglor (the only Fëanoreans still living) when they attempted to steal the Silmarils after all the sacrifices made on the part of the Amanians in rescuing the Beleriandic Elves from annihilation. He's coming from a different place than someone like Finrod. Hope this makes sense. I'm glad you liked the chapter. Thanks for letting me know. I appreciate it.

Gorgeous song by the Rankin Family, and I am definitely not speaking to you. Do you know how impossible it is to track down the song or the album?!? Quick question: were all of the 10 who went with Finrod bonded to him with the Life Oath? If yes, given the, uh, feedback, that'd be major ouch in the dungeon of Tol-in-Gaurhoth? Laughed at Arafindel and Earwen secretly eloping. Go Mom and Dad! Author Reply: Sorry about that, Tkid. I figured most people would just do a Search for "Rankin Family Mist Covered Mountain" when they got on Youtube and would find it easily enough. I certainly did. As for your question, I have no idea about the others who went with Finrod and Beren on the Quest. Edrahil is the only one named in the sources so it was easy enough to bring him into the picture, but I do not think all of them had the Life Oath with Finrod, but some of them most likely did and it would have made Finrod's experience in the dungeon of Tol-in-Gaurhoth all that much worse indeed. Anyway, I'm glad you found Arafinwë and Eärwen's elopement amusing. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it.

Ah! A wonderful time was had by all! And glad that Arafinwe and Earwen beat their mothers to the punch as they did! At least they got the marriage they wanted! Author Reply: Indeed, Larner. It was just what everyone needed. And there's more to Arafinwe and Earwen than meets the eye, I think. They're a bit more unconventional than they appear. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate you taking the time to do so.

Nice chapter. I was a little worried when I read the title, I just imagined Finrod as Rapunzel in a high tower...I tis great when parents surprise their kids. You know, when first I read about ME (many, many years ago), one of the stories that impact me more was Findecáno's rescue of Maitimo. It was a stuff of legend. I really mourned FIndecano when he died. I'm glad that you wrote about it. Author Reply: Hi Fantasia. Finrod as Rapunzel... LOL! Oh, the image that evokes. Anyway, I'm glad you enjoyed the chapter. Thanks for letting me know. I appreciate it.

Well, how sneaky of Earwen and Arafinwe, not that I blame them, if they had to put up with the kind of nonsense Finrod and Amarie are being put through! Oh dear, poor Adundil, well at least he should be rocovered enough to dance at Finrods wedding! I am sure that tree was very soory it did not move fast enough! Intaion's injury must have brought back some very unpleasent memories for Ingalure, from the few hints you have given, it appears he was felled by a blow to the head, deliberately or by mistake only I.D.B. will tell. Perhaps the 'Ing' boys can join Arafinwe and company for a picnic another day. I thought, maybe, Glorfi and Finrod were going swiming when they started undoing their braids or was it just an indication that they were really relaxing and literally latting their hair down? Tight hairstyles can give you a headache sometimes. Waiting for Wednesday and Friday, both these tales seem to be coming to conclusions of some sort. Huggs, Lynda Author Reply: Hi Lynda. You're right about the unpleasant memories for Ingalaure and we will see just what happened to him eventualy in Darkness. Neither that story nor this one is coming to their conclusions yet. There is plenty more of the stories to tell, trust me. Glorfi and Finrod undoing their braids is just a sign of them really relaxing. I suspect that they wear the braids only in public and otherwise let their hair down in private. That they are doing so in a semi-public venue says a lot about them and their states of mind. Thanks for reading and reviewing. It's much appreciated.

Oh this was a break that was sorely needed by the family. Time to get their feet back under them again and tackle the wedding plans straight-on. Wonderful (of course), and I look forward to the next (also of course). - Erulisse (one L)

Heh. I _thought_ the Reborn were at the bottom of the situation that got Aldundil injured. And it was a bit funny seeing an elf saying he is getting "too old" for something. When I saw the title of the song, I actually thought about the Dire Straits song - not too far-fetched, IMO, since you have featured rock music in your story _Maiar Games_. Besides, I really like the Dire Straits song. I see that if Finrod and Amarië decide to elope after all, they will be in good company! ROFLMAO Author Reply: Hi Sunny. While I know Dire Straits, I'm not familiar with their music or the particular song you have in mind. At any rate, I thought this song appropriate enough. Glad you found the chapter amusing with Arafinwe and Earwen describing their elopement. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it.
