The spell sounds horrid. I love how the reaction of Aragorn mirrors what Merry experienced in Bree. Most appropriate. And Glorfindel's thoughts are wise and in keeping with his long eons of experience with the Enemies' ways. Author Reply: Thank you. I'm glad this rings true for you.

Oh, that was chiling! And Pippin almost getting swept away from being thoughtlessly brave is so Pippin. Author Reply: Dear Pippin! It must have been agony for the hobbits to not be able to rush to Frodo's aid right away.

Ahh... It seems to me that you're not just content with two "compromised" members of the group. It seems as if there is residual effect from the Black Breath (for Merry) and the Barroweight (for Sam). It all feels like a cancer that is going to spread throughout them all... Author Reply: How dare anything nasssty infiltrate our friends? We'll just see about that!

This is a really intriguing beginning, and I look forward to seeing more! Author Reply: Thank you. What a joy to be writing again.

Oh no :(( It was Aragorn :(( I was hoping that it wasn't him. This is going to be darker than the last one, isn't it? *frets* Author Reply: I don't think so, but I haven't written it yet! At least Aragorn is among good friends able to help him in ways no sorcerer could have foreseen.

Oh my! Aragorn can't remember what the Nazgul did to him. And Sam can't remember the words - which is good! But only WE know that (and the Witch King, of course). So, on the one hand I am glad that Glorfindel senses that there is something wrong, on the other hand I don't want anyone to use the Black Speech. Last but not least, just to be sure, a quote from your reply to Baggins Babe: Never fear! Every tale eventually turns into a "Shirebound story". If that isn't a good thing :-) Author Reply: Darn that Black Speech... it's so full of mischief. I'm very glad you're coming along on this new adventure. I'm pleased and amazed to still be writing "Shirebound stories" after so many years. :-)

Poor Aragorn and poor Sam. The Nazgul scare me stiff.I can't wait to see what happens next. Author Reply: Eeeee, I can't wait either! There are so many directions this could go, but I think I've finally chosen one.

Eek! Now that's way too short a chapter. LOL! Oh well, it just means more to come. Poor Aragorn. Glad Glorfindel was there though. I think, next to Elrond, he would've been the only one to realize something wasn't right with our Estel. Hope he can help Sam to remember but I have a feeling you're going to be spinning that one out for a while, else there won't be any story. *grin* You do h/c so well, Shirebound; I almost think you invented the genre. Author Reply: Now *that* is a lovely thing to say, Fiondil. I've been in love with h/c since way before I ever heard of fanfic. (I am sorry about the short chapters, but with my wrist problems, I know it will help me to post more consistently if the pressure is off to work on longer ones.)

Scary! I just hope Sam is remembers the words, and Aragorn is strong enough not to fall under the Nazgūl's spell. Author Reply: So much potential for evil here, but also so much potential for friends to each help out in their own way. :)

Oh man! Thank goodness for an Elve's perception. Now hopefully Sam will remember soon. Great beginning. Can't wait for the next update! So glad that you're continuing this plot. Author Reply: Thank you! Glorfindel couldn't keep this from happening, but at least he realizes there's something amiss.
