Farming is a useful skill, too! I'm hoping to learn canning, actually...there's not much scope for me to do any actual farming, in the midst of the third-largest (by population) city in California. So I can't do what Frodo did, but we do have a farmer's market on Sundays. Canning, pickling, making jams and so on seem like they'd be useful. Kaylee Author Reply: I have done some gardening, and have helped raise chickens and ducks. Making jam can be fun. But for Hobbits, farmers are probably highly honored. | |
