the longer I read your story the more I regret that I live in a world without elves! What would I have given to hear Daerons song. How much more can Alex take in? I hope he will soon really see and not have a breakdown. As Elrohir said: this place is changing everyone coming here - how true. A talk with Ambrose is much overdue. I have to revise my former statement. I have no longer a favorite chapter; its simply my favourite story. Thak you Lai Author Reply: Hi Lai. I think we all wish there truly were Elves in our world. We'll see how things go with Alex. We're not through with him and neither are the Elves. And his talk with Ambrose will come soon enough, never fear, and then everything will begin to change for him I'm glad you are enjoying the story. Thanks for taking the time to review and let me know. I appreciate it.

Alex is so lucky. I'd really love to see a demontration of Elrohir's skill with the bow for myself *wistful sigh* Sarah? Does that mean Elrohir is in love? Now that would be good news! Here I had hoped Alex had recovered a bit, but instead he had a breakdown? Poor guy. And he probably can't explain in any way why he reacts so strange. (Neither can I, for that matter). This assignment is really messing with his head and emotions. Glad Elrohir was so understanding and comforting; I guess he needed it. Hm, Alex is not the first one to react so strongly? Odd. So far I had put it down to his background as agent, which has to be rather stressful. But now I have to reconsider that. Elrohir has a point; history is never entirely correct, seeing as mostly the victors write it. If you read many different versions from many different sources, they will all be different, even if they describe the same event. Everyone writing a record will make himself look good and the enemy bad, after all. As for languages – of course they were invented at one point in time. We are still inventing new words, after all, and older ones vanish or the meaning changes over the decades. Alex should know that if he enjoys languages so much. Now I am slightly jealous of Alex. I so wish I could have been there at the Blue Petrel and witnessed Daeron and the others sing as well. It must be beautiful and feel like an otherworldly experience to listen to a song that gives one these images. Author Reply: Hi Kitty. As Elrohir said, Wiseman has a way of changing people. Of course, he's speaking about the influence of the Elves and Maiar who are there, though Alex is unaware of this, so he uses himself as an example that Alex can relate to, i.e., falling in love. And history is nothing more than other people's lies about themselves, so those who dismiss alternative interpretations of things generally miss the point. And everyone is jealous of Alex and the others to be able to hear Daeron sing and not really appreciate what they are hearing and from whom. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it.

Alex is close to breaking. I just hope he will not run away when it becomes unbearable or that he turns on the elves. I would love to be able to listen to Daeron giving a performance. Alas, I have to be content to live in a world without elves. Author Reply: Hi obsidianj. We'll see what happens to Alex soon enough. He may be close to breaking but he's not there yet. I know what you mean about having to be content to live in a world without elves, but it's nice to believe in their possibility. I think that helps make the world just a little more 'magical'... the possibility that there might indeed be Elves somewhere, even if not in our world. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it very much.

Goodness, Alex seriously needs to get rid of some of that stress before he gives himself a heart attack from the overload! Good for Elrohir for watching out for him. Ah, what I wouldn't give to hear Daeron sing. That was definitely the highlight of this chapter for me! I really like the way you described the effects his singing have on Alex. It explains just enough of what he sees to draw us in without spoiling the "magic". Author Reply: Hi Lisbeth. I think everyone reading this chapter will agree with you that Daeron singing is the highlight of the chapter. I'm glad you liked the way I describe what Alex is experiencing. It's a tricky tightrope between giving just enough information to keep the story moving forward and giving too much and having it bog down. Thanks for commenting. It's very much appreciated.

What I would give to be able to hear Daeron sing... Wonderful, powerful chapter if I do say so myself! I was glad Alex didn't manage to shoot himself in the foot while in archery, and found the (albeit short) scene between Alex and Amroth deliciously panicked on Alex's part. I could go on for quite a while on that vein, but I'm unfortunately pressed for time so this'll have to do. I'm eager for the next installment, and am wondering if we'll get to see more of some of the other elf-friends, it's great to see Zach, and stutter-free too! ~Truffles P.S. And on another note, the whole 'Sarah'-Elrohir scenerio was quite surprising! I wonder what his brother thinks? Author Reply: Hi Truffles. You and everyone else, including me. *grin* I'm glad you found this a powerful chapter. We'll see something of the other elf-friends, though only peripherally for now. Later, some of them may play larger roles. As for what Elladan thinks about Elrohir and 'Sarah', we will learn that in the next chapter, actually. Thanks for taking the time to comment. I appreciate it very much.

Oh, if only the Elf Academy really exists. It's sounds heavenly and I would sign up ASAP. Hearing their music had surprising effects on the humans. Author Reply: Hi Tari. I think we all wish Elf Academy really exited, but at least we can enjoy it vicariously through this story. And if you recall (assuming you've read LOTR), when Frodo is in Rivendell and listening to the singing in the Hall of Fire, he sees images of what is being sung. It's something that Elves can do. Anyway, thanks for reading and reviewing. I really appreciate it.

Atto, Tuesday night? That's tonight! =D Hehe, well I suppose it might not be in the timeline, so we'll see. But I really enjoyed Daeron's singing. Incidentally, how does one pronounce 'Daeron'? For some reason I'd been pronouncing it the same as 'Darren' but I'm pretty sure that's wrong, lolol. What would Daeron's name be in Quenya? And Nimrodel's? Tye-melin, Atto! Happy Valentine's Day! I really hope your day is a wonderful one. Sorry I couldn't send you a real valentine, but I hope this pack of reviews suffices, hehehe. Tye-melin, tenn' Ambar-metta. Kaylee Author Reply: Hi Kaylee. Well, it's just coincidence that this chapter is posted on a Tuesday and it's not even in the same month. *grin* Daeron's name is pronounced as "die-ron". The Quenya form is Sairon. Tolkien says that Nimrodel was not properly Sindarin and couldn't be completely translated though obviously the first element of the name "nim-" means "white" but that's about all we know about it. Christopher Tolkien tentatively translates the name as "White cave lady" which, rendered into Quenya, would be something like "Ninquirottiel". I think I like Nimrodel better. *grin* Thanks for all your reviews. They brightened my day considerably. Happy Valentine's Day to you, as well. Tye-melin, tenn' Ambar-metta.

Alex picks up on quite a number of things, doesn't he? It will be interesting to see where you are going with that. And if Alex _does_ have some sort of psychic abilities, they would likely have contributed to his success as a spy - and his survival, too! though right now anything he might pick up from a number of persons here in Wiseman is probably having him convinced he is going batty. Not that he is likely to be be consciously aware of this awareness. And speaking of going batty - if Alex really has some kind of talent - his career as a spy _can't_ have been good for him! Huh. Reading what I have written above, you can clearly see that my fondness for reading Fantasy and SF has warped my mind, and made me see ESP everywhere ;-) Elrohir in love is just _so_ cute! I have a half-finished picture of Amroth and Nimrodel being sappily romantic, but I clearly need to make one of Roy and Sarah (Serindë?) too! And does Elladan have a sweetheart as well? Daeron's performance was wonderfully described! I really wish I had been there! Author Reply: Hi Sunny. I'm sure his sensitivity has been an asset in keeping him alive all these years, though I doubt Alex would consider himself "psychic". And Elrohir in love... why does everyone think it's so cute? *grin* In the next chapter Glrofindel will have a discussion with one of the Elves' mortal friends about Elrohir and Serindë and how Elladan feels about it. I'm glad you thought Daeron's performance was wonderfully described. Thanks for letting me know and thanks for commenting. I appreciate it very much.

oh man lucky fraggers, to get to here Daeron sing! I would say "poor Alex, getting his whole worldview so forcefully upset" but I am feeling juuuust a tad jealous right now so =p Author Reply: Hi bookworm. I'm sure a lot of readers are jealous of Alex and Derek and everyone else who was in that bar that night to hear Daeron singing. *grin* Thanks for commenting. I appreciate it.

Well, well, well... our young Alex is proving to be very sensitive! I wonder how often he's experienced intuitive events before. He's certainly unnerved, but doesn't seem to be as freaked out as I would expect him to be if he was entirely unfamiliar with sensing things like he did at the tarn and in the woods. Your portrayal of what Alex "saw" as Daeron played was just beautifully, achingly evocative - I felt swept away with him. Lovely. Author Reply: Hi Lyana. I imagine that being intuitive is a very good trait to have when involved in espionage, but I think Alex is getting a bit of a workout with the Elves, which is why he's becoming unnerved at all the uncanniness around him. I'm glad you found my portrayal of what Alex 'saw' to be evocative. That is what I was aiming for. Thanks for letting me know and thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it very much.
