Elf Academy Part Deux  by Fiondil 12 Review(s)
KittyReviewed Chapter: 45 on 7/15/2012
Derek is really throwing himself into that whole mess and trying to help. Though Glorfindel is probably right that they should do that at a more reasonable hour. At least they learned never to agree to something again if them agreeing depends on his playing abilities ;)

So Irmo is sending dreams to push Alex on the right path to solve the problem? I can't help but wonder what truly is at stake, seeing how much interest the Valar and Maiar are taking in this whole Academy.

The Elves are really doing their best to keep things interesting for their students and to bring some change to the normal schedule. I am sure the students had fun with these races.

Though, of course, you had to destroy that fun with the last paragraph. What on earth has poor Alex done to you that you keep torturing him? He doesn't deserve that!!

Author Reply: Hi Kitty. Well, as another reviewer pointed out, you only hurt the ones you love. LOL! There is more going on here than first meets the eye where Alex is concerned and the issue of why all these supposedly bad things are happening to him will come up in the next chapter.

As for his dream, we'll see what comes of it.

Thanks for reviewing. As always, it's much appreciated.

Atya,

*huggles* Sorry I've been bad at reviewing lately - six chapters late! All I can say is I've been under pressure from several sides. I kind've know how Alex feels, although my trouble isn't pushy spies, but a pushy Ada who won't take no for an answer. *sighs* Some days I *wish* I could crash into something like Alex (poor Alex though anyway!) get knocked into a tree or whatever and save myself the trouble of having to listen to Ada's whining about how lonely he is and how much he wants to see me. I feel sorry for him, but ever since Lory died he's gotten worse. I can't be alone with him. Maybe if the Maiar would deign to send him a dream like the one they gave Alex! Do you have the Maiar on speed dial, Atto? lol!

Anyway, so yeah, I thought that dream was pretty great, and poor Alex, he doesn't know what her answer will be! *hugs Alex* I have read all the chapters I missed reviewing, but I don't think I remember him ever getting back to her answer yet...if he did get an answer.

Anyway, on with reviewing!

Tye-melin, Atto!

Kaylee

Author Reply: Hi Kaylee. Sorry you're having trouble with your dad. I hope you can work things out with him. Unfortunately, I have no advice to give except to be patient with him.

Anyway, I'm glad you liked the dream. We'll find out how successful he is in getting info on Farrell from Shanna but not immediately.

Thanks for reviewing. Tye-melin.

Glorfindel is one sharp pool player - but then he has had a lot of practise with hand eye coordination over the ages! Interesting to see that it is not only the Elves who find it hard to trust those with less, perceived, experience. I am becoming a little concerned that Amroth will be effectively 'out of action' looking after wife and children, (and quite rightly,)just when he is needed most.
And watch your feet Alex! Trees like being hugged but not battered!

Author Reply: Yes, Glorfindel definitely is one sharp pool player much to Alex and Derek's dismay. *grin* And of course, Alex is merely being arrogant, seeing himself as better as trained field agent than someone who's never been in the field and never will be. As for Amroth... he'll be fine, as we will see.

Good advice, unfortunately a little late, as far as Alex is concerned. *grin*

Thanks for commenting, harrowcat. I appreciate it very much.

For some reason, I had first hard time imagining Glorfindel playing and even more hitting those balls so well, but I shoudn't have wondered, he has probably played that game for a very long time *grin*.

Lovely, Derek can join an almost-Iditarod race! But what is Alex doing, falling off a cliff?!

A bit late, but Happy Midsummer!

Author Reply: And Happy Midsummer to you, someone. And you're right. Glorfindel has had many years to hone his skills at billiards and pool. Maybe he even took lessons from Fats Domino. *grin*

As for Alex falling off a cliff, we'll see how he fares over the next couple of chapters.

Thanks for reviewing. I appreciate it very much.

I really can't imagine, after all these two friends have seen, that they'd think they might have a snowball's chance in... with Glorfindel and pool. *g*

I've got my fingers crossed for the agent in Washington. Hopefully, she'll prove to be an ally.

As for Alex and his ....

I was in the movie theater for the first LotR movie and a woman loudly said something to the effect: 'Why does that Frodo always seem to get hurt? Why is he always the one in trouble?' She couldn't put two and two together - that Frodo carried the Ring, the Ring called out it its Master, and Sauron and everything else evil fought against Frodo.

I'm beginning to wonder if that's poor Alex's lot in life. Are you sure, Fiondil, that Alex isn't carrying the Ring??? *g*

Author Reply: No, Alex isn't carrying the Ring. LOL! But there is a reason, other than my being sadistic, for why things are happening with Alex as they are. This will be addressed in a later chapter. And I'm afraid neither Alex nor Derek have been around the Elves long enough to know better than to challenge them even to a game of pool. As for Shanna... that remains to be seen. Thanks for commenting, Agape. I truly appreciate you doing so.

Oh, no! I hope there's a Maia or two hanging about keeping an eye on things! Poor Alec is going to be in misery once he wakes up. Being overheated from the race, getting bashed up by hitting the tree and then lying unconscious who knows how long in the snow and cold... * sending healing thoughts Alex's way *

A very nice chapter, meldonya. I especially liked Fionwë and Olórin's little mission into Alec's dreams. Let's hope that Shanna can get Alec something useful on Farrell.

Are we going to get Derek's stroy about what happened in the mini-Iditarod eventually? I'm sure that after he wakes up and is safe back at the Academy Alec will want to know how Derek did at least.

I'm looking forward to Monday's chapter. You do cliffhangers so well!

Have a great weekend and please take care. Hugs.

Edlyn

Author Reply: Hi Edlyn. We'll see how Alex fares in the next couple of chapters. He's down, but not yet out (metaphorically speaking). I'm glad you liked Fionwë and Olórin here and their little mission of inspiring Alex. We won't get an in-depth description of the mini-Itditaod race but we will learn how Derek did. Thanks for taking the time to read and review. It's greatly appreciated. Have a great weekend yourself.

Erm, Alex, I think you're supposed to go round the trees, not through them?!

Let's hops Shanna is able to come up with some information on Ratty and is also on Alex's side! I really, really want to be a fly on the wall when Matty finds out just what has been going on!

The Mini Iditarod sounds like fun, so does the snowshoe race, do we get a description of the other activities?

You only hurt the ones you love!

Huggs,
Lynda

Author Reply: Hi Lynda. Yeah, that's the general idea, but I don't think Alex was in any position to choose. We'll see about Shanna. We'll learn in the next chapter what the other activities were.

"You only hurt the ones you love!" -- How very true!

Thanks for your comments. You know I really appreciate them.

Aaaand he's out again, folks! Well, I guess Alex had it coming - it's been a whole 6 chapters since he'd been rendered unconscious. :-)

Love the dream (and Maiar commentary!), and looking forward to the revelations of what Shanna might dig up.

Author Reply: Hi Lyana. Yup. LOL! Glad you enjoyed the dream and the Maiarin commentary. We'll see about Shanna in the future. Thanks for leaving a review. I really appreciate it.

Oh, no! It had to be Alex who lost his footing. Alex is awfully accident prone for an agent. Or is he just enjoying himself too much and needed a reminder to be better aware of his surroundings? I just hope he didn't break anything or is out of commission for long. He already missed too much time being in the hospital.

Loved the dream sequence. Luckily his old friend didn't scare Alex away or made him feel guilty. Funny, Alex forgot nearly everything from his dream, but the name and he knew what to do with it. I loved the interlude with the two Maiar.

Author Reply: Hi obsidianj. I think he was enjoying himself too much, plus he really wasn't paying attention to where he was walking, being too intent on finding the trail. We'll see how he fares in the next couple of chapters.

I'm glad you liked the dream sequence and the two Maiar. It was fun to write, especially "Junior". Dreams are like that; you forget everything but one important part and really, that was all he needed to remember at that time.

Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment. It's greatly appreciated.

LarnerReviewed Chapter: 45 on 6/22/2012
Oh, poor Alex! He's had his share of disasters during this course, hasn't he? I hope he doesn't stay too long in the cold snow. Now, if only Fionwe and Olorin are still keeping an eye on him.

(And I know that this Shanna isn't a field agent, but it would be interesting if she were the one just ahead of him on this leg of the race.

Author Reply: Yes, he has, poor guy. We'll see how he fares in the next chapter. And while it's an intriguing idea, I'm afraid Shanna is still in Washington and not in Alaska. Thanks for reviewing, Larner. I appreciate it.
