| Thurin is really dependant on Maglor right now, but it seems he's beginning to warm up to Glóredhel as well. And that first attempt at teaching him went rather well, despite his initial aggressive reaction. At least he stopped when they called, which I think is a good sign. Author Reply: A very good sign. Civilizing someone isn't easy (just ask any parent), but they're making headway and Thurin is learning (or re-learning). Thanks for reading and reviewing, Kitty! | |

| Well, they are making headway, at least. The Mother Look I know well from working with both my own kids and many of my students, and even a few of my adult disabled clients. | That was a breakthrough. Thurin obviously is able to make a connection between the sounds Maglor and Gloredhel make and his desired dinner. Interesting that he says Maglor's name and not Gloredhel's. Maybe because Maglor is easier to say? Or is Gloredhel more intimidating with her "angry nana" look? Project "Thurin" will give them plenty to do/think about during the winter month. But they can't all just hover over the poor ellon. They need some other projects. Do elves play cards or dice? They need some toys for when they can't go out. Author Reply: Hi obsidianj. Well, it's not that he's never had language, only that he has forgotten what it is with no one else to talk to. Now, however, there is a reconnection and he is remembering what language is for. He should be able to communicate more fully in a short period of time. And certainly the others will have more than enough to do even in the middle of winter besides helping with Thurin. Thanks for reviewing. It's much appreciated. | |

| He hasn't heard laughter in so long. For some reason that makes it even worse. I wonder if Glóredhel is naturally quiet or if she's wrestling with some demons of her own, not unlike Maglor himself, and now Thurin. They make a good little family together with the rest of the Harthadrim. You show that tantrum-throwing overgrown elfling who's boss, Nana Glóredhel. :3 Dangerous cats prowling about, no doubt blizzards on the way, and a somewhat panicky Elf who isn't used to be shut in with others during cold spells. This is going to be one interesting winter! *grin* I'm finally caught up now, and just in time for tomorrow's chapter. Great work as always, Fiondil. Tons of emotion and development in these last few chapters in particular. I have my spot at the edge of the cliff picked out just in case I need it tomorrow. -Kevana Author Reply: Hi Kevana. It should be a very interesting winter for everyone and we will see how everyone copes, especially Maglor and Thurin. I think Glóredhel is naturally quiet but who can say. Like Maglor, she doesn't like to talk about herself much. And you might want to bring a cushion with you when you sit on the cliff's edge so you're more comfortable as you may be there more often than you think. *grin* Thanks for commenting. | LOL love the "angry nana look" Sounds like she may have had some dealings with young ones before. Got to love the 'break through' moment with or without the look she gave. It is a start, to what might be a very long road. Elbereth hmmmm. Perhaps Thurin was once a high elf? Or at least studied /trained with one. Great update as always Fiondil. I bow to you once more. :) Author Reply: Hi Laer. It is a start, and there will probably be set backs, but eventually, Thurin will find himself and be able to tell the others his story, which we will learn soon enough. Thanks for reviewing. So, round 1 goes to Gloredhel. That was very brave, confronting an armed savage (even if its only a rock, I suppose this was how Thurin hunted and defended himself all this time so I would guess he's good at throwing rocks); sorry, Thurin, but you have forgotten so much of yourself for so long that being an elf hardly counts at this stage. Congratulations to Team Maglor and Gloredhel for the breakthrough with Thurin. I love it that Thurin looks to Maglor for comfort, even if the gesture seems rather demanding and self-centered, so like a baby. I wonder if Thurin was separated from his parents when he was still a baby? But he remembered Elbereth last time...didn't Frodo identify Gildor and his companions as High Elves in the FOTR because they spoke the name of Elbereth? Could Thurin be one of the High Elves? If so, he really has fallen far. But not so far that the Valar could forsake him... I wonder what Ragnor and the others will find in his old haunts...so many things to look forward to in this story... I'm so happy to learn that this will take a long time yet…until the first week of July! That's just a week before my birthday, so I guess the end will be an advance birthday treat. And I'm already looking forward to that new story you are currently working on. And another volume of Elf Academy? I can't wait. I love the Glorfindel series, although I hope he doesn't get married too soon. I almost resented Helyanwe's coming with Finrod. Can't be helped, I suppose. New item on wish list: to read about that particular incident with Elrond and Elros that Maglor was reminiscing about…(and maybe Helyanwe can go back to Valinor, but I don't suppose there's any hope of that! hahaha) Author Reply: Hi Celeth. Well, we know he must have been one of the High Elves simply because he remembers Elbereth. We'll learn more about him soon. Now that they've made a breakthrough, it should be easier for him to start communicating. As for what Rangor and the other explorers find, we'll learn fairly soon. As for Helyanwë... you mean you don't want Glorfindel to discover love and happiness? LOL! I promise there won't be any wedding bells for them in Elf Academy 3 and I doubt the focus of story will be the romance between these two or between Daeron and Melyanna, though we'll see something of them. Anyway, that's for the future and I'm not even concerning myself with that story yet. As for the story of Elrond and Elros trying to do in Maglor, that won't be in here but perhaps it will show up elsewhere. You just never know. Anyway, thanks for taking the time to comment.
