Oh, Val! Drowning your sorrows in alcohol never works. It just makes you feel worth. I love it that Ingwe is looking after him. That business in the fiefdoms is strange. Ingwe needs to know about that. I forgot that Intarion's reputation is tattered even worse than Val's. Intarion pleaded guilty to stuff he didn't do, and he didn't even defend himself. He looks like a weakling and little kid... Good that he has a friend in Valandur. Author Reply: No, it doesn't but people still try. Ingwë is... well, Ingwë, and he doesn't ever do what you think he should be doing, so he's always surprising you. He's a good friend to have and Val's fortunate in that. Intarion is very young by elvish standards, so it's easy to think by his actions that he's a weakling (we know that he's not) and a kid (which, in a way, he is). Val will be a good influence on him. An excellent plan, I must say. And it is plain that someone wished the scheme that Intarion and Valandur set into motion should fail. I doubt that Ingwe will be pleased by what has been done by whoever started the mischief. Someone has been terribly naughty, I'd say. Author Reply: Apparently so, Larner. Probably Fëanáro but we may never know. And no, Ingwë will not be pleased at all by all that has happened. We'll see more of that in the next chapter. Thanks for reviewing. I really appreciate it.

Poor Valandur. I know I had done something similar, thought I was dying. I haven't' drank in years...or even decades. And I don't even miss it. Or the being ill part either. sometimes you live long enough to become smart. Valandur is very lucky tho, his friends (and he does have a few of these) are helping him despite himself. Author Reply: Hi Laer. I'm sure most of us can relate to what Val is going through here. And he is lucky in his friends, especially those in high places. Thanks for commenting. So Valandur was the "designated driver" among his otornor and now they get to return the favor. Somehow I don't think he much cared for the experience. grin Poor fellow worries Findis does not miss him, little enough chance of THAT, I think! A flying leap off Taniquetil. There's a phrase for the ages. And now things get even more complicated. I do hope they get Intarion's reputation cleared, he's such a sweetie, offering to pay to make sure the homeless villagers didn't go hungry. And to then get beaten up and accused of treason! No wonder he was in such a state. In "relating real life to the Silmarillion" news, this is absolutely incredible. It's finally getting cold here, so time for some hot coffee (sigh though I am restricted to decaf) and warm blankets. Val's feeling pretty low right now so he probably hopes Findis doesn't miss him to justify his own feelings that his suit is hopeless. And I thought "Take a flying leap of Taniquetil" quite original. LOL! We'll see how Ingwë reacts to the news that Val and the others bring him in the next chapter. It's cold here, too. I need to remember to stock up on hot choclate. Poor Val, but one can hardly blame him for going on a bender. I laughed out loud when he woke up and found the High King holding his chamber pot! I'm very keen to hear how the meeting with Ingwe goes. Such tangled webs! Author Reply: No. One can't blame him at all. And Ingwë is pretty cool, isn't he and not too proud. Hope Valandur learns something from the night after he fled the palace - namely that trying to drown your sorrows in alcohol won't actually work - you still have all your problems after, and a hangover on top of it! I see that Ingwë hasn't forgotten the time when he wasn't a King - the time back in Cuivienen and on the Great Journey when they were all just Elves, and not even the leaders held themselves too good to deal with even the most humble everyday tasks. Calandil and Morion's stories were interesting - I wonder if this was some scheme of Fëanáro's, or if someone just took advantage of the situation, since Fëanáro already had a couple of convenient scapegoats already lined up to take the blame. It is reflects well on Valandur that he is able to think beyond his own pain right now, and do what he can to provide the High King with the information he needs to deal properly with a crisis which has effects that cross clan barriers. And I don't think Ingwë is going to overlook such devotion to duty! Author Reply: Hi Sunny. I'm sure Val is regretting the drinking binge and will remember the futility of it in the future.grin Ingwë is pretty cool. There's no doubt about it. I doubt Finwë would act thusly. I think some people decided to take advantage of the situation in the Fiefdoms. There was a lot of confusion anyway, but Fëanáro isn't above taking advantage of such things for his own purpose. And Val may be hurting but he's smart enough to know that it's not really about him and so he's able to hear what others are saying and recognize that they need to have their stories told. We'll see how the meeting goes with Ingwë. I'm sure Ingwë won't be overlookkng anything where Val is concerned. Thanks for leaving a comment. It's much appreciated.
