That was an interesting little meeting. And the Valar sent a Maia to make sure Val's friends get to see Ingwe. That should teach Finwe a lesson. Now off to see what it is with this sealed off garden... Author Reply: You would think it would, obsidianj, but some people never really learn, do they? Somehow I managed not to leave a review to the last chapter. So, now the Valar are involving themselves and their servant Maiar, first to make certain that Ingwe gets all of the information he needs, and secondly to get Valandur calmed down so he can listen? Although the garden with no escape does appear to be rather overkill, if you ask me. Poor guy--he keeps getting waylaid, and I'm certain he's sick and tired of it! Author Reply: I'm certain Val's tired of being waylaid, too, Larner. And the garden wasn't created for his benefit; he just happened to stumble into it. Thanks for reviewing. I appreciate it.

And I can see Arafinwë and Finrod doing this as well, but I'm not sure about Nolofinwë or Findecáno. Anyway, thanks for the link, Sunny. I'm sure many readers will find it instructive.

A Maia is interfering again, I see, this time in the guise of Intarion, to ensure that Val got to bring his friends into the palace. What is wrong with Ingoldo, anyway? It is truly a record-breaking level of asshattery for him to get involved in something illegal and then turn around and let his son be accused of the very crime he (Ingoldo, that is) is mixed up in. Especially when his son is innocent! And it is very clear now that Finwë, Fëanáro and Ingoldo are all in quite a lot of trouble withthe High King. Interesting, the way Valandur seemed to blunder into a maze, and then find himself in a garden without an exit (or entrance. I wonder which of the Valar has decided to kidnap, I mean _invite_ him for a little chat? ;-) Author Reply: Hi Sunny. Who knows about Ingoldo? I never could figure him out except he's full of jealousy for Ingwë's position. Anyway, Ingwë will handle them all one way or the other as we know. As for Valandur, we'll see if anyone does show up for a chat and why in the next chapter. THanks for leaving a comment, I appreciate it.

It will be a long time before Ingwe will forgive Finwe for his mishandling of the situation, I would love to have been a fly on the wall when Ingwe had his little chat with Feanor! Being totally isolated as a Royal is never a good thing, it pays to get out and mingle with the masses to get an idea of how peoples feelings run, or to have a good information gathering, i.e. gossip gathering network! Besides the chamber maids probably know more about what is going on the any body else. Oh, poor Valandur, his situation reminds me of a recurring dream I get occasionally in that I am trying to get some where but never do. I wonder what Irmo is trying to tall me! I hope someone comes to talk to Valandur soon or he is going to try climbing the walls and hurt himself. Huggs, Lynda Author Reply: Hi Lynda. Yeah, I'm betting it will be a dog's age or more before Finwë's in Ingwë's good graces again. As this story is strictly from Val's POV we won't get to see that meeting between Ingwë and Fëanáro, but we can certainly imagine that whatever Ingwë had to say didn't go down well with the Noldo and we see the consequences of all this in Fëanáro's treatment of Ingwë in my story "Bound in Darkness". Anyway, we'll see how Val fares in the garden and what follows from it in the next chapter. Thanks for reviewing. I really appreciate it. Hugs.

I just had a flashback to the time I got lost in a giant parking garage and spent an hour looking for my car, only to realize there was a little arch opening I'd come through connecting two different garages and that I'd walked past it five or six times before seeing it because it was the same color as the wall behind it. At least in my case the door was actually still there. grin Got any rock-climbing gear, Valandur? No? Well, maybe try calming down and see what happens. Apparently somebody with reality-modding powers thought you needed a time-out. Finwë I do believe your nickname must be Rover because dude, you are so in the doghouse. I'm glad Ingwë offered Intarion some comfort, the guy's needed a hug for about the last five chapters! LOL at Ingwë telling Val's otornor to get off their knees. I imagine that kind of thing gets old real quick. Also LOL at them being overdressed for meeting the kings. Fabulous chapter! I've liked him from the first time I ever met him when Glorfindel came to his court in "Elf, Interrupted". I'm glad you found the chapter amusing. It was fun to write. Ingoldo was involved after all. Why would he mortify his son like that? unless it was to place another nail in Val's coffin :( Findis dumping him for someone due to their rank in society. He must not know her as well as he thinks..or maybe he knows her better than me? Guess we will see before it is over with as to whom is correct in the suppositions. Kind of sounds like "someone" is wanting to give Val a chance to calm down and think before he goes to far. Hope he does just that. Sitting in a sealed off garden should give him time to see that this garden could be his soul if he didn't stop with all the self loathing. Over grown with seeds of doubt instead of being tended with the loving hands of Findis. LOL Author Reply: Hi Laer. I guess Ingoldo was, at least to a certain extent. It would probably be closer to the truth to say he fell in with the plan once it was explained to him. Well, we know how he ends up eventually. We'll see what happens with Findis eventually. Other events will intervene before that particular subplot is resolved. And we'll see how Val handles being trapped in the garden. Your comparing the garden to Val's soul is very perceptive. I never thought of it in that respect. Thanks for sharing and thanks for commenting. I very much appreciate it.

So Ingoldo was involved. Why am I not shocked. Loved the Maia intervention and Morion's colorful expressions. Maybe he invented them! Getting all three kings together was brilliant. They have to work out some relationships or the darkness will come faster than ever. Great job. Was out of town and failed to review last chapter. Loved the entire chamber pot episode. I can only imagine Valandur's embarrassment. Thank you. Author Reply: Hi UTfrog. You're right that the three kings need to work more closely, but we know how that didn't work eventually. I'm glad you liked the Maia intervention and Morion's colorful expressions. He may well have invented them and we know how inventive the Noldor were. grin You can always review a chapter at any time.
