Elf Academy 3: The Enemy Within  by Fiondil 15 Review(s)

Sunshine? The name parents come up with sometimes ... I'd have never occured to me to use that as a first name. Oh well, as long as it fits.

Vorondur explained the problem very well; it's easy to see why they need these classes, and soon. Things can be distressing enough without the Elves fighting among themselves, and despite the title of this story, I doubt there will not come something from the outside, too.

Interesting test; both the explanations before and the comments afterwards made me curious about the results.

Author Reply: There is a woman named Sunshine who works in my office, and I was so intrigued by it that I knew I just had to have a character with that name and so here she is. *grin*

We'll see the results of the test for some of the Elves, though not for all. It is a very interesting test and highly accurate.

Thanks for leaving a review. I very much appreciate it.

I suspect that Finrod as a royal prince and former King has a bit more authority to which his son and Finda's companions will respond than Max's children. Also, the younger Elves have still been responding to royal authority a LOT longer than Max's children, who after all are preparing for the day they leave their parents' home.

Author Reply: I suspect you're right about that, Larner, and such obedience is probably so ingrained, they don't even think about it. Thanks for commenting. It's much appreciated.

oh ho, I remember doing that test once - it is a surprisingly hard one, sometimes - I agree with Aldarion, I looked at some of those questions and went... "but it depends..." Makes you really look at yourself. Be interesting to see where people fall out on the scales =D

Author Reply: You're right about some of those questions being hard to answer because you knew that under on set of circumstances your response would be one thing but under another set of circumstances it would be the opposite, so which do you choose? But choose you must. We'll see where some of the Elves fall out on the scales in the next chapter. Thanks for reviewing, bookworm. It's greatly appreciated.

So all the elves do the Myers-Briggs. The results should be interesting. The attitude of one of the Valinorean elves towards the mortals is something they need to address. This kind of attitude will get them into trouble.

Looking forward to the results of the test.

Author Reply: The results should be not only interesting but perhaps in some cases unexpected especially for anyone familiar with the 16 personality types. We'll see for some of the characters in the next chapter. And that attitude toward the Mortals will indeed be addressed to one degree or another. Thanks for reviewing, obsidianj. I appreciate it very much.

Myers-Briggs hmmmm. I would love to have my test from High School, and then the one from Collage, but not until I took one now. Just so I can see where if any place I have changed at. (And please let it show that I truly have gotten wiser and not dumber) LOL It will be interesting to see how it will all work out :)

Author Reply: Hi Laer. It's unlikely, thoughn not impossible, that the results would be too different. Our personalities and our personality preferences are pretty well set by the time we reach college age. The best that we can hope for is that as we get older we develop those aspects of ourselves that we ignored when we were younger. Anyway, we'll see what personality types some, if not all, of the Elves are in the next chapter. Thanks for reviewing. It's much appreciated.

I am enjoying this story greatly, and can't help wondering whether all these mutterings about the Eldars' anger being too terrible for humans to behold are a foreshadowing for the E.'s anger being upon some human's head some time soon. If so, looking forward to reading about it.

Author Reply: Hi Twoflower2. I'm glad you are enjoying this story so much. As for the anger of the Eldar and to whom it is directed, we'll have to wait and see. Thanks for letting me know how much you are enjoying this story. I appreciate it very much.

Oh goody, I can't wait to read the results! See who is like me!

Idril

Author Reply: Well, I don't cover all the personality types, at least not in this story, just a few, so you may be out of luck, but I hope you enjoy the chapter anyway, Idril.

Well, I think I'm caught up with the elf academy tale now. I've always thought it an interesting concept of "just where did the elves go?" and love the magic that they are in our society rather than relaxing in Valinor. The difference between societies is really interesting here because ours changes so fast now. Vorondor's interventions are going to be an interesting read.

I like all the mortal's reaction to them, although I felt for Anne and Andy having that dropped on them. I think my reaction would probably have been closer to hers.

This story has caught my imagination. Looking forward to reading more.

Author Reply: Hello Morn. I'm glad you're caught up with the Elf Academy series and that the story has caught your imagination. Music to an author's ears. And Vorondur is going to be very busy indeed as we will see. Thanks for taking the time to let me know how much you've enjoyed this series and that you are looking forward to reading more. I really appreciate it.

Ah, the good ol' Myers-Briggs. The Psychology graduate in me had great fun reading this chapter, since MB was one of the first things they had me do back in college at career counseling. I love that sort of thing. Very much looking forward to the results for our friends. I am sure that ah, "picking the brain" of one of the Eldar would seem quite a daunting task, no matter how psychologically similar they might be to us. Still, I am sure Vorondur's colleagues are more than up to it.

Author Reply: Hi Sarah. Myers-Briggs is lots of fun and very informative. Glad you enjoyed the chapter. The next one should be even more interesting since we actually learn what some of our favorite Elves' personality types actually are and why. And we'll see how Max and Sunny handle things. Thanks for the review. I greatly appreciate it.

I had to go and check if "splendiferous" is really a word *grin*.

Very interesting beginning. (I've not reviewed other chapters, so this is going to be some kind of collective review.)

My first reaction at seeing the story title was something like "are there still undercover spies in the academy?!", but if it refers to the elves and what happens within their heads, it's going to be far more scary than an outside threat. If we presume that the reason for the Noldor (especially Finwë's house) being a bit mad in the First Age is genetical, Findalaurë and Nielluin might cause trouble later on. By the way, which one is younger? Nielluin (as Finda has to look after her in the academy)?

Manwë's eagle tie was funny (and cute!).

For some reason, it was also funny to see the local psycologists doing personality analyses for elves. Are we going to see the results?

Author Reply: Hi someone. If it isn't, it should be. Splendiferous is a great word. *grin*

Nielluin is older, but in the culture where they come from, being unmarried, she is under the protection of her male relatives, which is why Finrod wanted to have her stay at Edhellond and commute to the college until Glorfindel and Daeron came up with the housing solution that they did. Very medieval, I know, but that's the way it is.

Anyway, we will see the results of the test for some, if not all, of the Elves in the next chapter. Thanks for reviewing. I really appreciate it.
