| Our dear balrog-slayer has a rather odd out-of-body experience here. How strange that he doesn't recognise anyone. So the twins and Serindë are about to run away. Not their best idea, sure, but I can understand that they need to get away to get some distance to what happened. And maybe it's necessary to prevent another kinslaying, at the rate this is going. I'm glad Olórin and Námo were there in time to catch Glorfindel and push him back into his body before he ran off to god knows where. Author Reply: Glorfindel is in a state of confusion, not even remembering what happened to him or why he's where he is, so him not recognizing anyone does make some kind of sense. At any rate, it was rather fun to see him trying to get people's attention and being ignored. While Olórin has the power to keep Glorfindel's fëa within his hröa, once Glorfindel gets out it takes a Vala to put him back inside, hence Námo's appearance. Thanks for reviewing. | Ha, a Reborn is dangerous whether they're bored or not! But Glorfindel can be dangerous even when he's on the lam from his body. Also, apparently "sit on him" is the Námo-approved method of dealing with him now. *grin* I imagine all other avenues have been exhausted at this point. Sad to see he still has this issue with going for walkabouts even all these years later, but I'm glad they had Olórin on watch to take care of him in the absence of his ring. And then Olórin got distracted by a Mortal chewing out a couple of Elves, huh? Maiar are the biggest gossips! I can only imagine he was sharing every word of it with his brethren. If only Stoner knew he was quite the topic of interest, I wonder what he would think. Possibly yell at the Maiar for making the doctors have to revive Glorfindel? *grin* See how they like getting on a Mortal surgeon's bad side. I'm really glad the poor Elf is not suffering in his state, even though he's probably going to have a rough time of it on waking up. I don't blame the Twins and Serindë for taking off. Sometimes it's not so much running away as it is stepping back out of not wanting to make things worse, and knowing your limits on what you can take. But ooooh dear, you three, you're in for it. If Mr. Death Himself is amused, I think it's time to be concerned. "Girl, you have it bad, don't you?" *loud, undignified snort* Great chapter, Fiondil! Námo is pretty experienced with retrieving Glorfindel's fëa by now. He bound to take a cavalier view of things where that one is concerned. | GRRR!!! Now that I've finally caught up with the story I have to wait like everyone else for the next chapter!!! I'm glad Glorfindel's having a good time because I am freaking out over here. Several heart attacks, yow! and now I can't even skip ahead to see if he's going to be OK. Very good chapter, Fiondil. Still enjoying the hell out of this. The twins and Sarah really should be there when Glorfindel finally does wake up. I think they'll really regret it if they're not, I know he will be hurt if they're not. On the other hand, maybe Elrohir and Seriende can elope. Of course that would make everyone's heads explode. I've been thinking a lot about what happened to Daeron before he was found by our heros (he's a great character BTW) for some reason. I bet he was found in some kind of brothel. Or maybe a slave to someone like Caligula or Tiberius (now those were some impressive perverts!). I just think that would certainly explain the tears and reticence to talk about it, even after all these years. Well, I'm still rootin' for Glorfindel to dump Helyenwe and hookup with Mithrellas instead. C'mon everyone! GLOR AND MITH, GLOR AND MITH, GLOR AND MITH!!! The Dude abides! I doubt Roy and Sarah will elope, not this close to the wedding and all, but certainly people will be upset at their leaving as they have. Still, I think the need the space in which to calm down so they can deal with the situation rationally and without emotions getting in the way. As for Daeron... even I don't know all the details of how Glorfindel and the Twins found him, but it was pretty grim. Perhaps we will learn something about it later, but I can't force him to tell me so we may only be left to wonder. As for Glorfindel and Mithrellas getting together.... we'll have to see about that. | The twins are going to Fairbanks... and Namo is amused. Let's see what comes of that. It was interesting to see it from Glorfindel's pov, disembodied as he is. Olorin should know to pay attention when on Glorfindel watch. Author Reply: We will certainly see what comes of it in due time, obsidianj. And yes, Olórin should not have allowed himself to be distracted when on Glorfindel watch. | Oh, but I'm glad that Olorin is the one on duty! He'd be most familiar to Glorfindel and should be seen as non-threatening. So, the two Els are heading off on an unplanned sabbatical, eh? I look forward to seeing what the Valar have planned for them and Serinde! Author Reply: Which is probably why Olórin was assigned to watch over him. | Ah, it appears that our favorite Balrog Slayer is stubborn indeed, but not at all in the way I thought, slipping off to have adventures like that...naughty naughty elfling. "I do so enjoy them. I like to see what can go wrong with them and then bring it up in conversation to the newlyweds six months later and watch them get all red in embarrassment. It’s such fun." Oh? Did you do that only for particular Midsummer weddings, or for everyone you know, I wonder? SO happy that we get to ah...step away from the action for a moment, even though the whole thing is terrifying when you think about what's phsyically happening in the scene. Though in truth, I'm more worried for the others than for Glorfindel, who'll won't be in a position to worry much about anything should 'the worst' happen, considering that it isn't anything he hasn't done before, and he'll be in safe hands (far safer, in fact, than those he would leave behind, who I suspect would fall to pieces without him). Speaking of which, what is the policy for ah...repeat visitors to Mandos? But I'm fairly confident he'll pull through, inflicting him on Namo again would be far too cruel. So now we know where the lovebirds & co. ran off to. I admit, having been in a similar situation I can understand the impulse. By the sound kf it, what with Namo's "plans", they may come to regret it. I will be very interested to see how much Glorfindel recalls of his little adventure when he wakes, the poor thing. Author Reply: Hi Sarah. I'm sure Glorfindel did it for lots of weddings over the long millennia. He must've been to quite a few over the ages, I imagine. And as far as I know, no one has dared to be a repeater to Mandos, mainly because they're too terrified of what Námo might do to them if they did show up on his doorstep a second time. "Mandos" doesn't mean "castle of custody" with the secondary meaning of "prison" for no reason. As for the Twins and Serindë regretting running away, we'll just have to see, as we see just how much if anything Glorfindel remembers of his walkabout. Thanks for commenting. I wonder, though, what has distracted Olórin so much that he nearly missed Glorfindel slipping his leash. Have I mentioned that you are evil, o King of all evil cliffies? Author Reply: LOL! We'll just have to see just how doomed they are, Soledad. As for Olórin, he was obviously distracted by Kyle reaming out Vardamir and Eärnur, no doubt fascinated to see a Mortal read the riot act to the two Elves. He must have been quite amused by it all. | Ohhh... So that is what happens when Glorfindel slips his leash. Unfortunately, he is not remembering who and where he is, making things difficult for Olorin and Nano. Definitely not ready to join the universe yet. Hopefully Olorin will manage to keep Glorfindel in place this time. And the twins and Seriende going to Fairbanks? I see whether others are saying they shouldn't run away. But I think I will take the other side here. Dan and Roy need space to regain their confidence and composure and right now removing themselves from the fighting might be the best solution. The fact the Valar have plans for the trio might not be soothing, but the twins and Seirende will survive and maybe be able to make the decisions that need to be made to best support Glorfindel and rest of the elves. Not making much sense I know, but I am a glass half full person and often think that adversities only make you stronger if you persevere. I liked this chapter for the subtle humor going on and the conclusive way the Valar seem to have plans in progress. Probably the best people to appreciate that are going to be the reborns Finrod and Glorfindel. Author Reply: Hi rikki. Yes, it's happened before, which is why the Valar gave him the ring, to help keep him grounded. Dan and Roy certainly do need the space, though they could've just checked into one of the resorts in the area and still have all the space they needed. But I suppose going to Fairbanks will feel more like a definite break to them, so that they can step away from the situation emotionally as well as physically. That's what they need to do more than anything and going to Fairbanks should help. I'm glad you enjoyed the subtle humor and the way the Valar have plans in progress. | Running away is not the answer, even running away temporarily. You’d be better off staying here and dealing with whatever is going on. Good advice, Loren! You ought to try a bit yourself. I understand it goes well with a little salt. I was worried about the three going off to Fairbanks -- I seemed to remember some problem or danger with Alex staying in Fairbanks, but as I've read so quickly through so many chapters to catch up to this one, I might be thinking of a plot point elsewhere. But then it turns out to be some part in a Greater Plan. Of course. Author Reply: Hi Lindelea. Yes, Alex going to Fairbanks and feeling uneasy probably had more to do with his troubles with Farrell than anything. This situation is entirely different. | Aww...poor Glorfindel! I'm glad Olorin was there, and even more glad that Lord Namo was his backup. That Elf really didn't want to go back to his body! Why do I have a strong feeling that the twins' sudden impulse to go to Fairbanks may not entirely be all their own idea? I know one thing: their departure like this is not going to sit will with certain Elves. For one thing, Serinde's parents won't be happy, and it wouldn't surprise me if they blame Vardamir and Earnur for this, instead of her fiancé and his brother. Author Reply: Hi Dreamflower. You may be correct that the Twins' sudden impulse to go to Fairbanks might not be entirely their own idea, but neither are they being coerced into going. The Valar are merely taking advantage of the situation as we will see eventually. And you're right that their departure will not sit well with many of the Elves, especially Serindë's parents and Finrod. We'll have to see how they react when they learn of it.
