Daeron did well in calming Alex down. Though I don't envy him having to explain the concept of dating to the Valinorean Elves; it's pretty different from their rather old-fashioned ways, isn't it? Finlay and Sakari being in that restaurant as well is a bit too suspicious to be coincidence. Even more so as we all know certain people are going to keep an eye on them. Hats off to Felicity for understanding Old High German. I've seen a text or two and was not understanding much of it. But I have to say, she and Alex would make a great couple, they get along well and have some things in common like interest in languages, and both are in Wiseman out of necessity. It was good to see Alex having a good evening, though I could have done without him feeling so uneasy at the end. And of course he had to run into Glorfindel in the end. Author Reply: Hi Kitty. Yes, I think Alex and Felicity were made for one another. We'll see how their relationship goes as the story progresses. The concept of dating is pretty bizarre if you think about it and so much is left to chance, but it's the way it is these days, so the Valinórean Elves will just have to get used to it. Well, at least the date went nicely. I think the next one might be a little better and hopefully not as crowded. :) Hopefully he will get the chance at another date soon with no worries of getting her shot. Author Reply: Yes, it was a nice date and hopefully the next one will be even nicer and less crowded. We'll have to see. Thanks for reviewing, Laer. It's appreciated.

I kept thinking in the back of my mind that the concert might be an explosive affair. Well, I suppose it was, but not in the literal sense. Glorfindel. Sitting in a chair. In an interior room. Was he perhaps sustaining some sort of shield around the building? Mmm, Italian food. I miss tomatoes... However, in the cliff house I can imagine all the lovely Italian food I wish to eat, and no consequences to pay. Lasagna, anyone? Author Reply: Hi Lindelea. You're pretty close with your guess about Glorfindel as you will see in the next chapter. I'm not really supposed to have Italian food with tomatoes and all, but hey! I have Italian ancestry so I don't care. *grin* Thanks for reviewing. I appreciate it.

How did Glorfindel know what Alex was going to do? Is he a mind reader? It's probably a good thing he is there given Alex's wariness. Author Reply: Hi Tari. I doubt he can read minds, but I think he has a good idea how Alex will act, or maybe he was just anticipating the possibility. We'll see why he is there in the first place in the next chapter. Thanks for reviewing.

What in the world are they doing in those woods all this time? Waking trees? Building a tree fort? It must be fun, whatever it is. I guess you can try to take the Elf out of the woods, but...no, no you can't, they'll just go back in them. It must be really tough to be in a position where you're used to having a lot of control and suddenly feel like your agency is taken away. This is a crash course in humility among other things. I'm glad Alex gets a little dose of reality from Daeron, though, he seems a little bit unhinged around the edges in this and recent chapters. The dating discussion is really cute. *grin* Aww, Glorfindel. Still trying to look out for everybody, That seemed like a win-win - Finlay and Sakari get a night out, Alex and Felicity get their not-date, the Elves keep an eye out for trouble and maybe get to take a swing at Farrell - that was good planning, imo. Sakari had to have gone along with this knowing the possible danger. She's pretty tough, doing that! Not to mention Felicity. I'm not sure I'd want to go out with a guy knowing somebody might have a sniper rifle trained on his head while we're enjoying our breadsticks. I suppose that might be attractive for some, though! :P I really like Sakari and Felicity so far, I'm glad you introduced them as characters. Pffft, the musical selections! Even if that was just coincidence, it made me laugh. I loved your meta comparisons between the music and the Silm stuff, I can totally see it. Wonderful chapter. On to the next one! -Kevana Author Reply: Hi Kevana. Yeah, I wonder a lot about that too. I'm with Alex on it: those dudes are definitely insane. LOL! Alex has been going it alone for so long and being always in control of whatever situation he finds himself that he's having a hard time dealing with the Elves interfering (as he sees it). Sakari and Felicity are both strong women, each in their own ways, and they are good foils for Finlay and Alex, respectively. I've been enjoying writing them both. Wagner is very suggestive of great mythic motifs and his music fits in well with Tolkien's legendarium, I think. I'm glad you enjoyed the chapter. Thanks for leaving a review. I appreciate it very much.

Ah, poor Alex, surrounded by too-helpful, too-protective, friends. Not something he has ever been used to prior to Wiseman, I suspect, and it's no wonder it's driving him just a little bit nuts. I loved the Elven curiosity about "dates", LOL! I'm glad the dinner and concert went well--it sounded like a delightful evening; Felicity's ravioli sounded yummy, and the music program seems like it would be enjoyable (even if a little ominous for Alex!) Glorfindel backstage, though? This should be an interesting conversation! Author Reply: Hi Dreamflower. Yeah, poor Alex. He's been a loner for so long he doesn't know how to accept other people's help graciously, so it is driving him a bit nuts. We'll see just how interesting the conversation between Glorfindel and Alex is in the next chapter. Thanks for reviewing. I appreciate it very much.

At least the non-date went over without a hitch. No disaster befell Alex and Felicity. Now what is Glorfindel doing back-stage? Interesting that Alex had a feeling of unease the whole evening. At least he didn't let this feeling ruin the event. Author Reply: Hi obsidianj. Yes, the non-date itself went without a hitch. That doesn't mean things won't go wrong because of it. This non-date will have consequences, as we will eventually see. As for Glorfindel, we'll find out soon enough and we'll learn where Alex's unease originates. Thanks for reviewing. I appreciate it.

So, he's found where Glorfindel has been hanging out. I do hope that the Elf isn't sitting in that room under duress, of course. The date that wasn't a date sounds as if it was delightful. Author Reply: We'll learn the truth of that in the next chapter, of course, Larner. I'm glad you found the non-date delightful. I'm sure Alex and Felicity did as well. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it.

Most readers have remarked about Alex's "Non-date" so I won't do so here. The concert however had my radar flashing! haha Wagner! One of my long beloved composers, and here we have, as you noted, the Valar entering Valinor. But wait! The Magic Fire that is the love between Beren and Luthien and her subsequent mortality! Well played! The Fall of the Gods however: how can I not think that this is a message and not necessarily one from the Powers that Be so much as the Powers that WANT to be. the message is too clear: you will all fall, you will all fail. And as for Glorfindel on his throne... um, haha, a bit of Odin in there? or perhaps Loki pulling a trick. Either way, lovely chapter; I had to re-read while listening to Wagner just to get the feel of it all. Thank you for a wonderful chapter Fiondil, and sorry I've been silent; my computer died and I'm working on getting another. Bon chance! Author Reply: Hi MikoNoNyte. I love Wagner too and have been fortunate enough to see a couple of his operas live. The Beren and Lúthien motif for the Magic Fire music is one that I hadn't really thought about but it certainly fits. As for the ultimate message: well, we'll just have to see about that, won't we? Sorry to hear about your computer. It always sucks when that happens. I hope your next computer treats you better *grin*. Thanks for reviewing. I appreciate it.

Clearly Alex and Felicity had a nice date, despite the nervousness of Farrell potentially lurking in the shadows. So maybe the two of them will end up together, and give Alex' mom little Dúnedain grandchildren. If you do decide to work on their relationship, despite the Romance cooties, hopefully we'll see more than the two of them saying hi in the mornings a few times before heading to the respecive classrooms, and a wedding in the Epilogue. (And if you do it that way, I'll feel very slighted, and probably Felicity will too!) Hm. Wagner. I can't say I care much for his music, it' so very overwrought. And best enjoyed in very small dosages! So is Alex going to have another confrontation with Glorfindel? And what is Glorfindel doing out on his own anyway? I'm sure his healers are going to be unhappy with him, so I guess he might get a talking-to as well. Author Reply: Hi Sunny. I promise there will no wedding in the Epilogue. There isn't even an Epilogue. *grin* Wagner isn't for everyone but I've always enjoyed his music for their mythic dimensions. We'll see what kind of confrontation Alex and Glorfindel get into, if any, and why Glorfindel is there in the first place in the next chapter. Thanks for leaving a comment. I appreciate it very much.
