| What an uproar! Leaves me wanting to know how these in Valinor reacted even more so. I just hope everything goes well, triplets can make a pregnancy much more difficult and dangerous. In any case, I am glad Finrod took over and stopped the others. That's something for the Valinórean healers to think about – how much mortal technology has achieved. During Vorondur's explanation of why he's taking these notes, it struck me once again how lucky they are to have him. He has helped them immensely already in defusing tension and arguments and helping them to cope with any situation that arises. I hope they acknowledge at least how much he's doing for them. Sounds as if Locke is more on the side of the Elves, which would be good. Legolas has a very sensible approach to living in a mortal society now, and sometimes I wish the others were equally sensible. Maybe he should speak up more. Anyway, I am sure the Dwarves would have agreed about not upsetting Thranduil ;) It was nice that Melian helped Legolas over his grief for Gimli. And even better to know how much Finrod was looking out for Legolas. Author Reply: Hi Kitty. Vorondur is a treasure and he has helped them all out tremendously. I think they would all be lost without him, frankly. Finrod shows himself the prince he is in this conversation with Legolas and the relationship he has, not only with the younger Elf but with the Valar in requesting Legolas be allowed to return to Middle-earth with him. | I know I've fallen behind again (my Nexus died, and i mean dead!) I think this will be one of your best chapters. I loved how you wrote about the talk in the woods between Finrod and Legolas. It was great insight into both characters, and VERY well written! You made me fall in love with both of them. I'm sure Tolkien would've enjoyed a lot of your stories. I sure as hell do. | I can't stress enough how much I love the conversation between Legolas and Finrod. Two of the Elves who knew other races better than any other Elves, ever, talking together. This is perfect. Great part about fanfiction, getting to see characters interact who never interacted in the canon. The reference to Finrod's work as a Fëanturnildo is a wonderful reminder that he might still be working to find his feet in a new (old) world, but he has a powerful purpose already no matter what changes come his way. I'm so happy with your characterization of Thranduil. While I don't personally think of him as "less wise" at all, I also don't think he's nearly as hard-hearted as a lot of people make him out to be. I always remember that he diverted his traveling party and went to help the people of Laketown after Smaug's death, even sending supplies ahead. While I'm sure he had his strategic reasons for it, I don't think a lot of Elven leaders might have done that. He comes across as very strong-willed and shrewd but not necessarily as scary or, I guess "vicious" as people might think (or at least that's just me, LOL). And the fact that he was the only one to protect a realm despite not having a Ring of Power is so, so true. I think he definitely passed that strength down to his son. I don't think somebody without a balance between strength and wisdom could have raised a son like Legolas or held a realm for so long. Bless you and your patience, Nimrodel, I would've smacked a couple of those healers. Why do people always think it's okay to put their hands on pregnant women's bellies without asking? Honestly. :P Ron and his notebook made me giggle. It would be fun doing the craziest stuff on occasion just to see what he'd do. Maybe carry another notebook around and take notes of him taking notes. How very meta. Really enjoyed the council meeting and seeing some old, familiar faces from previous stories! -Kevana Author Reply: To be honest, until people began pointing it out to me, I really didn't make the connection between Finrod and Legolas and their particular background where mortals are concerned. I just knew that Finrod, being who and what he his, would naturally wish to speak with Legolas about working for mortals and what that might mean to him. And Thranduil is... Thranduil. He's probably a little rougher around the edges and not as sophisticated as Elrond, but he's powerful and he's savvy and he's nobody's fool. I've always felt Thranduil gets a bad rep for no reason I can think of unless it's because people don't like how he treated the Dwarves, but if he were truly evil he would've just had them executed on the spot. Anyway, anyone who has a son like Legolas can't be all that bad, can he? *grin* Ron is something else entirely. He's really having way too much fun these days. Thanks for reviewing, Kevana. | I'll admit, I did a happy dance with squeeeee when I heard you were writing EA4. I love your stories dear, and have for many years now. You have a way of capturing elven personalities and moments. I can't wait to see where this one (and the next) go...and I'll also admit I've had to make a character list to keep everyone from the three stories straight! I'm still not sure I've got everyone. | The Elf Academy series is now my favorite fan fiction. I've been staying up late, getting up early, even dreaming about these characters. You are a wonderful story-teller and writer. And you accomplished this huge story with no sex, no slash, and very little (even "off screen") violence! THAT is a mark of a true professional. I hope you are writing a novel. If not, for goodness sakes write this story faster! I need my Elf fix like I need coffee in the morning. I guess I'll read your other stories while I wait. Author Reply: Hello spinster. I'm glad that Elf Academy is your favorite fan fiction. It's fun to write. You will be pleased to know that Elf Academy 3 has many more chapters to go and you will be reading it into the New Year. Also, I am already in the middle of writing Elf Academy 4 so you have something else to look forward to for next year as well. By all means, feel free to read my other stories in between reading the chapters of this one as I post them, which is twice a week on Mondays and Fridays. | Finally, we get to be at one of the Saturday meetings*grin*. I was always curious as to what they talk about, but it was always mentioned more or less in passing. I liked the discussion between Legolas and Finrod. They have more in common than I thought. Having Melian console Legolas in his grief was a great idea. Author Reply: We saw one such Saturday meeting in the beginning of Elf Academy 2 and I think they are pretty much the same. Most of the discussions generally center around Elf Academy and the integration of the Elves into Wiseman society. Finrod needed to hear from Legolas that he could handle being "bossed around" by Mortals and Legolas needed to hear that Finrod's been watching out for him from the get-go. And as Melian was "kin" to both Finrod and Legolas, it was logical that Finrod would recruit her to help heal Legolas of his grief. Thanks for leaving a review, obsidianj. | Aha! A good meeting followed by a good and productive conversation. Good to have it shown forth Legolas's ability to take a subordinate role, and how this is a good thing in his circumstances. | I was very pleased to see how you handled Thranduil. I've seen so many teenager's characterizations of him based on the films or exaggerations in social media. Very refreshing to see a more balanced approach. The other thing to consider is that the identical twins could share a crib. I've heard lots of stories about twins only sleeping well in the same cradle. ~Eruherdiriel Author Reply: Hi Eruherdiriel. Thranduil has always intrigued me and I think he gets a bad rep. The very fact that he ruled without a ring of power and practically on Sauron's doorstep says a lot about him right there and I would think the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, so Legolas has to have inherited some of his father's better qualities. And it doesn't have to be identical twins. Even fraternal twins find comfort sleeping in the same crib, at least at first. Eventually you have to wean them from each other. | loved your insight on Thranduil he is one badly portrayed elf in most fan fictions. The onslaught of the elves with the announcement of triplets were kind of scary. Glad she had her husband to protect her and that Finrod was there with the voice of reason. Well, maybe not so much reason at first. ;) Author Reply: Hi Laer.
