| Thank you for the update, Haleth. It is such a treat to see more of this story. For me, the long hiatus between the updates parallels the state of suspended animation Haleth found hearself in at Elrond's house and so creates a special literary effect :) Just for how long has she stayed at Elrond's? We know it's not centuries only because the ringbearers are still alive. And as for the protection thing... if Ecthelion tried to protect Aredhel following her anywhere she went, no wonder she ran away eventually. Has it ever occurred to Ecthelion during all thoose millennia of contemplation? BTW, about Haleth's strange memories that seem to span millennia: I was extremely surprised to read about (seemingly) Haleth-like cases right there in the canon. Author Reply: Hello Twoflower2 To be fair, Beleriand in the Elder Days wasn't the safest of places. It would have made sense for people to travel in groups; preferably large groups for mutual protection. Aredhel's decision to wander away wasn't the wisest and she paid dearly for it. Then again, Tol Eressea is hardly crawling with orcs, giant spiders and balrogs. Ecthelion and Glorfindel may just be bored. Or they might see a person who is incredibly careless with her own well being, especially because Haleth is (or was) a mortal woman. By definition she's smaller, weaker, slower and less skilled than the Elves. Throw in the fact that she's a distant descendant of Tuor and Idril as well as the perception that protecting her can mean redemption for Ecthelion and Glorfindel; I can see their point. It all depends on what they'll do to protect her. Keeping her out of trees would be a good start. There are millennia spanning memories in the canon? Could you please contact me privately? | She is channeling Aredhel, isn't she? That's why she sees people and place she shouldn't, and why Angrod knew her. Author Reply: I wish I'd thought of that! It would explain a great deal. Except, if she's channeling Aredhel she'd still look like Haleth. Unless Elves see people differently that mortals do. Then again, thinking back to Gandalf's explanation to Frodo of Glorfindel appearing as a bright light, maybe they DO see differently. Thank-you for the idea and the review. Haleth | |

| To be under the protection of those two would be wonderful. I wish she'd get over her anger and self recrimination and just enjoy all that is around her. Author Reply: Hello Tari Most people would rest easier knowing they were protected by people like Ecthelion and Glorfindel. But Haleth isn't most people. | Well, with both Ecthelion and Glorfindel looking after Haleth, I don't think life will be too dull for her. LOL! Hope to see Inglor soon. That ellon takes sulking to a whole new level, silly boy. | Now if she just stops overreacting to things, sits down in a quiet room with Celebrian, and asks her to just explain EVERYTHING. And then does the same with Glorfindel. She's assuming too much and never asking the right questions (or indeed any questions at all) Somehow, I think she won't... So glad we're back up and running with this one. Thank you. | What a tremendous joy it is to be back in Haleth's company again!! Gosh, I've missed her! :-) It's been a long wait, but well worth the cost! Poor Haleth... My heart was disappointed too that the blond haired, fair faced, second voice didn't belong to the long lost Inglor - apparently neither of us will get what we want for a while yet... I loved the lessons in Elf history that you've woven into the conversation between Haleth and Ecthelion, another great example reminding us of the timeless Ages through which the elves live. I also like the friendship that you are building between the two characters. As always, I laughed out loud at the humour you've woven into the lines! ;-) In my excitement, I read the chapter at lightening speed, but I believe there was one sentence missing a word (..."Master Elrond can care of himself...") and one sentence in the first paragraph that I couldn't quite sort out (..."She welcomed by dull ache in her backside...") If I notice anything more when I re-read it at a more leisurely pace, I'll let you know. So HAPPY to see this story continue and I am looking forward with eager anticipation to reading Chapter 37! :-) Author Reply: Hello Endoearwen. I don't know if it's safe for Inglor to come back. A grumpy Haleth is a dangerous Haleth. Tolkien's world is so large and complex and there are so many things in its history to mention. I can remember being a kid and feeling completely out of touch when my parents talked about things that had happened twenty years before I was born. My history was their living memory. It really makes a difference in my understanding of the events. I call on that memory when describing Haleth's interactions with the Elves. Thank-you for finding the typos.
