Larner!

It will be very interesting to read the changes and similarities of storyline and ideas. I like it.

Greetings, friend. Yes, now that you have explained it thoroughly I'd understand clearer now.

Sorry if you misread me as wanting to correct your errors etc. Just wanted to clear out the confusion regarding Elrohir having seen the Tower whilst it still stood tall in the early 3rd Age.

It got destroyed for sure during the Battle o Arvedui Last King of Arthedain against the Realm of the Witch King of Angmar.

Greetings... long time reader but first ever comment, friend.

Totally love all your stories... just a question though on this chapter... how could Elrohir talk about being there when Amon Sul was built in the Second Age when he was born in the Third Age? Unless you meant for Glorfindel to say that....

Author Reply: Aargh! Dunnit again, I have! I'll rework it. Forgot that the tower was built in the second rather than the third age!

Thanks again!

Author Reply: Actually, if you read it carefully it doesn't say Elrohir was there when the tower was built, but that he remembered when it stood as tall as it had originally been built by Elendil. As it wasn't destroyed until well into the third age, Elrohir had plenty of time to see it in its original form, as he was born very early in the third age, and the tower was erected by Elendil very late in the second age.

I am relieved that I didn't have to edit it again! Thanks for catching what could have been embarrassing, though, and I'm glad you wanted it to be accurate to canon!

I like this introduction. It must have been nerve racking for Aragorn. I liked the reassurance he got from Elrohir's little touch on the shoulder. And I guess Halbarad is the other young man.

Author Reply: You were certainly correct about the other youth being Halbarad. And when he found himself walking into a new life, how difficult it must have been for Aragorn!

How daunting this must have been for Aragorn and how inspiring for his people. I'm enjoying this story.

Author Reply: Thanks, Linda. (Am realizing how many comments I've missed responding to in this story, and am trying to get better.)

It's always good to read something by you Larner! And this, in particular calls to me because Aragorn has always been one of my favorite characters! Your stories have added so much depth and richness to him for me; and this chapter is excellent! Many thanks for posting it! :)

Author Reply: I first fell in love with Aragorn when I was thirteen years old. Here I am fifty-one years older, and the love still holds! And thank you for such a compliment!

Awwww, I love the end!

Author Reply: I so rejoice to read that, Ellynn! Thanks you so.

In fact all the others were as uncertain as Aragorn about the situation. Uncertain and wary, but that is to be expected.

The ice was broken for Aragorn when he saw the expression on the other young man's face! Is it Halbarad?

Author Reply: Aragorn would be seen by many as an untried element, I'd think. It appears a mere handful of people even knew he'd survived and been taken into safekeeping by Elrond's folk; now they must learn just what kind of individual he will prove to them.

And, yes, this is Halbarad.

This looks to be very promising indeed! I am guessing that it will soon be the chapter you wrote for the challenge!

I am also looking forward to seeing the development of Aragorn's relationships with these very characters. You've made us familiar with them in their older version; now we get to find out how they got the way they were, so to speak.

Author Reply: Yes, the next chapter is the challenge story I wrote. And it's proving interesting to investigate these people as youths themselves. Sorry to be so long responding, but this past week has been challenging.

Oh, what a nervewracking moment for Aragorn as he stood looking at strangers who were his own family and fellow countrymen. That was quite the introduction Elrohir gave! I do hope that the friendly young man is Halbarad. Looking forward to the next chapter.

Author Reply: Oh, yes, we have had our first glimpse of Halbarad. I would think that the acting Steward would wish at least one of his sons there as witness to their expected Chieftain's return. And I do think that one of Elrond's sons at least would stand to reintroduce Arathorn's son to his people.

Thanks so!
