Larner, I would have been very confused had I not known that "jelly" is here meant to be understood as what I would call "Jello" *grin* Mom has jello molds, or at least one, though she hasn't used it in a long time so far as I can remember. Nor was it so artistically shaped as Bell's! A rose, my goodness! I do like that idea. :) I wonder where the hobbits would get gelatin...maybe I shouldn't ask o.O Author Reply: Our friends Henry and Sylvia, who live not too far from Banbury, collect jelly molds of many sorts. They were commonly made of copper and lined with tin, which is less reactive than copper is. Many newer reproductions aren't lined and thus aren't good for actually making the gelatin in, but when we sold antiques we saw quite a few different kinds.

You can make jellies yourself? I never knew. That promises to be a very colourful feast. Author Reply: What here in the United States we call gelatin or Jello (which is actually a registered trademark for flavored gelatin) they call jellies in Britain. I've seen some beautiful jelly/gelatin molds both here in the States and in the U.K., and a friend who lives near Banbury used to have quite the collection on his kitchen and dining room walls. Yes, it ought to be a wonderful feast, with tons of foods, flavors, and colors to please all!

I should be most tempted by the raspberry one, myself. Author Reply: While I'd love one made with strawberries or cherries, although I'm also partial to lime jello. I'm not too keen on raspberries, particularly since the summer I picked them as a job. A miserable occupation in a year known for establishing records for precipitation in June and July.

When is someone going to send ME an invitation to this feast? All this food sounds great! =) Author Reply: And I, too, am eagerly awaiting my invitation! Heh!
