| So, nice to stop at Beorn's place once again. This time Aragorn is better equipped to enjoy his stay and he might be able to pay back some of the hospitality he got the first time he was there if I read the signs right. | Ah, so Gollum is left behind at last... what a relief that must have been. I loved Aragorn's reaction to it, too... "Let us be gone." Ah yes, those lung issues... they have never gone away, have they? And yet Aragorn steadfastly puts this problem in the back of his mind, it seems. Wow, would I ever be glad to get out of Mirkwood---nasty place! The click and chatter of spiders, eh? Lord have mercy. Remind me that I do not wish I could fall into Middle-earth--it's a horribly dangerous place. So much to love here with the Beornings, too! The children are adorable with Aragorn. And how like him to notice that Freya is not well. Very enjoyable chapter! Author Reply: Honestly, I was relieved myself. ;-) As for Aragorn's lungs, there's little he can do *but* steadfastly put the issue to the back of his mind. Without bronchodilators, antibiotics, and nebulizers, his options are worryingly limited. I don't think I could manage Mirkwood, either. I was a LITTLE too young the first time "The Hobbit" was read aloud to me, and those spiders still haunt my dreams. (Just kidding about the 'little too young' bit: you're never too young for Tolkien!) Thank you for your kind words about the Beornings, too! | |

| Argh, I have been trying to read this chapter for *days* but keep getting interrupted. They have just entered Grimbeorn's house, and though I have been interrupted and kept coming back, I must now away, for certain. So, a quick word, stream of consciousness style as I don't have time to go back and forth between the chapter and this review form. The journey through the forest is beautifully done. Moroch is a dear. "Spacious" saddlebags? Is there such a thing? One quote, that I captured while reading: an air of untouchable grace Glorious turn of phrase! I look forward to returning. Author Reply: Thank you for taking the time to review! I know how that is when life gets in the way. I'm tickled that you took the time to write! I'm pleased you liked the (swift!) journey back through Mirkwood, and I'm thrilled to know you're fond of Moroch! It's always lovely to know which phrases stand out, too: thank you. Such a thing as spacious saddlebags? Heh, probably not. But considering that Aragorn spent a substantial leg of his journey living out of a belt pouch, I'm sure they seem that way. ;-) | |

| Oh, I'm so glad they stopped on the way back and might stay a short while! I loved all the little kids clamouring for stories and Aragorn's attention (especially after the last state they saw him in). Author Reply: Thank you so much! | What a lovely chapter. Your details and dialogue are truly a joy. The mare was rubbing the side of her head lovingly upon Aragorn’s shoulder now, making soft glad noises deep in her throat.
