LOLOL! Talk about draconian measures! And yet I can see how this would easily apply in a society of immortals who had lost hope for the future and were living in boredom to fail to multiply--well, if they wouldn't do it voluntarily, I suppose it would have to be mandated. Hopefully once the children began to make an appearance the attitudes would change. And then Alex shows up--careful what you wish for, Olwe! *grin*

Wow! That was a surprise. Alex in Valinor. Let the fun begin. The delegates at the council are less than enthusiastic for Ingwe's plans. Although, taxing people for getting children seems a bit harsh. Can't wait to see how Alex will shock the elves of Valinor.

I've tried to review via my iPad (I was out of country for a while), but the moody little thing ate my review. Amaneldi, learn from my fate and think twice before get involved with computers! Ahem... yes. When Olwë first came up with the idea of bringing Alex to Aman, I began to cringe in the inside and flailed at him to shut up. He shouldn't give the Valar any ideas! And then, at the end of the chapter, it turned out that I was right... *g* Now I can't wait to see what Alex will do at the Council. Fionwë's Bane, and all that, hehehe... Aside from this, with all due respect, I found the idea of forcing the Amaneldi to have children a really bad idea. The government in my country did it a few years before my own birth, and now, 60 years later, we have to bear the consequences. But again, Elves would hardly have the problem of a society where the elderly outnumber the young by magnitudes... or rather they've already had it for Ages. Literally. Still, it is a dangerous practice. We'll see how the High Kings deal with it. Until then, I'll have to get some beer and popcorn for the "Alex in Aman" performance.

Hi fellow Fiondilie (love that term, Kaylee!), it's bene a long while since I replied, but I'm still here, hidden in a quiet corner of the cliff house garden. First off all, I want to say that there is nothing more annoying then to have the work you do voluntarily been criticized in such a way. It's not a paid job (in such case, let's say an editorial for a newssite, I would be expecting scheduled updates as well), it's something people will have do between their lives, jobs and family. Timmy updates are appreciated , (especially after being left with such an ending!), but should never be forced. However, dear beta Amiga's, keep in mind we care about you (at least I do, but I am sure so do the others.) I know you'll do your best to update as regularly as possible, and if not, something is going on. This could be something nice as going on holiday or spending some time with loves ones, it could mean you're without internet for some time, to something more serious could be going on. Please allow us the freedom to inquire about you if it takes you too long to update. Okay, off my soap box here. Now, as for something actually about the story. I really loved to see my dear Maglor showing up here and am pleased to see he at least has't grown such an attitude as some as the others. And here we have the cameo of Thranduil Fiondil promised us such a long, long time ago. And o my, Alex appearing in the end. Be carefull what you wish for indeed. I think not only some Elves have just been Namo'd, some are about to be getting Alexed indeed too! My best wishes to everyone here. Corine

Woooow! Namo pops up in the middle of the All-Aman Council session - with Alex! I'm certain that right now, all the Valar and all the Maiar that are able to are right now swanning around on the Astral around the Council Hall woth the Ainurin version of popcorn close at hand. Except for Námo, who is there in the flesh, so to speak. Fiondil was a true Master of surprises, as well as the King of Cliffies, so now we know there are some real fun surprises coming up. Alex is sure to shake things up, both by his mere presence, as well as a result of whatever shenanigans he gets up to. I'm sure that Ingwe is feeling as if he is standing in the middle of a minefield - or would, if he had known what mines are in the first place. And what is Námo thinking, anyway, dropping someone as, um, volatile probably describes it - for some reason he reminds me of some of the chemicals Derek Lowe talks about in his "Things I won't work with" article series - stuff that goes boom if you give them a hard look. (http://blogs.sciencemag.org/pipeline/archives/category/things-i-wont-work-with) ::drops of a few jars of homemade spiced jams on the table in the Cliff House, and settles in to watch the fun unfolding::

My word. Just read Aranadhel's terse and to-the-point review. To what point? I'm not sure of anything except it is to the wrong point. If I were the vengeful type, I'd ask the webmaster to try to block Aranadhel from leaving reviews at all. If I were diabolical, I'd ask the webmaster to block the user from reading at all (I'd have to be diabolical, have some sort of evil power to achieve that, I'm sure. I only know you can block users on sites like Facebook, I don't really know how it works). Aranadhel, please stop acting like a bounder and a cad. Sorry for losing my temper. You all are wonderful, meaning Fiondil's faithful betas and the readers who show their appreciation and support. Certain reader(s) excepted. Now I'll leave you all in peace and go back to RL, which has been keeping me from updating my own stories, frustrating, but such is life.

“Bring Alex Grant here, lock the chamber and let him loose. These poor bastards wouldn’t know what hit them.” Hahahahahahahahahaha! What's the old saying? "From your lips to God's ears..."?

Delurking just to say thank you to Ellie, Shemyaza and Mari for taking the time to post Fiondils work, regardless of when it appears, I really appreciate that I get to keep reading this verse. About the chapter: I love that we get see both what's going on in Valinor and middle earth, and also yet another cliffhanger :)

Well, the average Elven delegate to this council is in for a very great shock. 'I don't want to have to kill you, but I have a saltshaker.' Alex may just be what the majority of the Elves need to shake them out of their complacency and sense of superiority. I honestly feel that most of the delegates at the council did not really believe that the Mortals of Endore would not roll over and let them give orders. They need Alex to teach them that Mortals are not just there to die at their command, but have made major advancements in warfare technology and in fighting techniques. They won't like what Alex tells them, and even more they will hate the way he tells them, but it's a lesson that needs to be learned. By the way, did the kings really think that the Valar don't know that Arafinwe has brought schematics back for computers and various communication technologies? Olwe wasn't just blindly watching TV, especially National Geographic, he was also learning that people can always find out more about their own world, and what is in it.

I did think the Lindaran's idea was brilliant, and apparently, so did Lord Namo! Now talk about show and tell...I just hope Elves are not prone to heart attacks or Mandos might be filled to the rafters, not to mention those that might actually be victims when Alex loses his cool. But then I know that he's better than that. Go on, Alex, show them what mortals are like and what they can do! I can't wait to read about the reaction of the other delegates!!! And how Alex in turn will react to them, and to Valinor as a whole.
