| After reading all of the Brother Cadfael books I feel as if I know Shrewsbury fairly well, of course; and I've driven through it more than once. Always wanted to follow the Brother Cadfael walk back when I was picking up the most recent volume at W.H. Smith's in Banbury! Heh! Quite the place to leave the message, I must say, and Maelwys at least got his comeuppance in spades. Well, as we know that Sting, Glamdring, and Orcrist turned blue when orcs were about, I'm not surprised the ruby on this knife's blade grew hot and bright enough to blind an evil mortal intending to create mayhem. | |

| and wished that the day would hurry on so that they could hear the rest of it. AMEN to that!. However, patience is a virtue and it extends the time we have left to enjoy this story. Perhaps I was a bit quick to make assumptions in my last review. The Elves have a lot of memory to carry around. So. The knife is like 'Sting' in warning of danger or was Sting attuned specifically to Orcs? | |

| more fascinating near misses and diversions. for so few and such a large world, it is amazing that the paths came so close. the breadth of fiondil's knowledge of world history and specifically culture and custom never ceases to amaze. for his and you all's willingness to share, i am eternally grateful. | |
