The Unquenchable Light  by Virtuella 2 Review(s)
LindeleaReviewed Chapter: 6 on 2/3/2025
I found this wry thought quite comical! She wondered whether the old woman only ever learned people’s names once they had children.

The vagueness of Seers can be so annoying... Just write it down for me, will you? And make sure none of the important details is left off! (From the north... taken off-course... Hmmm...)

Treating Sauron's messenger (emissary?) like a toddler with a tantrum. Interesting. Sounds effective, at least in this moment. "Unless he can fly..." Have the fell beasts entered the picture yet?

Hmmm. "eldest son in the care of a fine lady": I have not forgotten the odd incident in a previous chapter. The overheard snippets of conversation by elves and dwarves was amusing and informative.

"But what about friend?" (Absolutely lovely. Wonderful way to end the chapter.)

Author Reply: Even if he were eligible to use the fell beasts (which I image he isn't), he'd have no way of summoning one.

Thanks for stopping by! :)

Oh God, this chapter is so beautiful. I loved the exhibition... I wished I was there.
So the Seraph has given his answer and now they are enjoying the calm before the storm. BTW is the grim messenger a Nazgul? His behaviour was certainly amusing for someone supposed to be terrifying.
Thanks for posting this chapter. And if I may venture to suggest an idea for the essays what about an essay on the conflict between the East and the West in Tolkien's works? Especially the importance of the West. The source of evil is usually East but may also be north (Angband, Utumno) but the source of good is always West. I didn't express this as well as I wished to... but I always wondered if Tolkien meant it as a reflection of the world around him.

Author Reply: Glad you liked it. The ambassador is no nazgul, just a thoroughly unpleasant man. ;-)

That would certainly be an interesting topic. I'll think about it.
