| Poor Sam, faced with such a hopeless task, and yet determined to carry it out or die trying. And then hope returns with the news his Master isn't dead! But also alarm, and worry, and fear... How resourceful he was! And ironically, the Ring he bore probably helped him inspire fear, greed and anger in the Orcs upon his approach, helping him achieve his aim. Author Reply: "Choices of Samwise" was one of the most heart-wrenching chapter in the story in my opinion. When i first read it, it was in disbelief and then i read the end and Tolkien left us with a cliffhanger until Book 6! I can write more fic on Sam and his emotions because it's such an emotional time for him. I love Sam's dedication and loyalty to Frodo shown at this time and his will to keep going is just so respected and admired. | |
