Delightful beginning. I loved the teeth thing - that Merry had to check it out for himself... but mostly, I was surprised at the hairy little feet. Now why it didn't occur to me that baby Hobbits would have hair on their feet, I don't know - but that's why I love reading other people's tales... something new always pops up - either a thought or a fact or a character I'd forgotten. Thanks for sharing this - looking forward to reading more. Author Reply: I do think that their tiny feet must have been absolutely darling at that age. Since he was eight when Pippin was born I doubt that Merry was completely thrilled with his baby cousin. After all, how many eight-year-old lads do you know who would be thrilled with a baby? LOL Thank you so much for the lovely review and for stopping by to read.

What a lovely and quite perfect beginning:))) “No teeth and a dreadful name. I guess the least I can do is be a bit nice to you while I’m here.” Indeed! LOL! Author Reply: Glad you enjoyed my take on their first meeting. It has always seemed to me that an eight year old lad would be a bit less than thrilled with the arrival of a new baby. Somehow, I suspect that Pippin had to win him over a bit.

My nephew once kept the whole house awake one night crying when he was a baby. I remember being quite mad at him in the morning. A cute introduction of Pippin to Merry. My favorite line: "I don't plan to like you." I can just see young Merry saying something like this. Indicates he's already starting to like 'it' just a little bit. Will we get to find out how Pippin comes by his nickname then? I guess I'll read on and find out. :) Author Reply: Thanks for reading. I am so glad that you enjoyed this one. I thought it might take Merry a while to warm up to the new baby even though it is Pippin. LOL

That was too cute! You used such cute terms like "“Don’t talk to me,” Merry said, firmly. “I don’t plan to like you." and "Merry had to realize that he was the proud owner of a new cousin." were my favorites! Thank you for such a fun story! Author Reply: Thank you for reading and reviewing this one. I'm so glad that you enjoyed it.

Oh this was too sweet! I love it that Frodo himself saw to bonding Merry and Pippin (although in later years when they ganged up on him, he might have had some brief regrets, LOL!) Merry sticking his finger in Pip's mouth to check for teeth reminded me of the time I grabbed hold of my baby sister's tongue to see how far back it went! This is a great start, and I'm pleased that each story can stand by itself with no nasty cliffies. Author Reply: I have a few of these little stories and didn't want to post them a lots of little stories on their own so I figured this was the way to go. People can read one chapter, read them out of order, or whatever. They don't really go together other than they are Merry and Pippin. Glad that you liked this one. I could see Merry being a bit of a hard sell at first. After all, he's an eight-year-old lad and most of them are not too interested in babies.

“But don’t get to like me, because I’m going home in two weeks.” The baby kicked him again and Merry smiled. “Good, you don’t like me either. I think this will work out just fine.” - GW Hehehehe....famous last words!! And I thoroughly enjoy the love and humor that you write between these two. Pippinfan Author Reply: Thank you! They sort of write themselves and I just listen.
