OMG POOR PIP!!! I love this tho! me and my brother are the same age difference as Merry and Pip. when he got home from school I asked him if I could paint him green...... and he said yes. my brother seems like Pip in alot of scene, and I'm his Merry

Author Reply: LOL So you have a real-life Pippin right at home! That's funny! I'm glad you enjoyed this and thank you for the review. Let me know if you *do* paint him green.

So--0Pippin is going to leave it to Merry to tell him WHEN not to go along with one of Merry's crack-brained schemes. Why do I see this as typically Pippin and setting himself up for more problems down the road? Bless the two of them.

Author Reply: it's the kind of control that you don't want to give someone else, isn't it? "Tell me when not to trust you." I could see Pippin going along with that when it came to Merry. Let's hope Merry doesn't abuse it too much.

"It's not easy being green."

See, if Pippin had watched the Muppet movie, he would have known better than to go along with Merry's plan.

The things that Pippin would allow Merry to do to him always amazed Frodo.

I'm with Frodo on this one. What in the world was Pippin thinking, allowing Merry to paint him. He should know by now that Merry's plans are not always well thought out.

This was another one that had me laughing out loud!

Author Reply: It's true, Pippin is far too trusting when it comes to Merry. Thanks to Sam, this all worked out in the end. I'll bet Pippin would have enjoyed the Muppet Movie. It's just too bad he didn't get a chance to see it. LOL

Wow...I'm humbled and speechless--and I always have something to say! Thank you, but I must say that you've been a most wonderful friend as well--always ready with an encouraging word while filling it with humor to make my heart laugh and brighten my day. :-)

You had me rolling with their stew insults at poor Frodo! Then nearly squeezed a tear out of me over Merry feeling that Pippin was the only one who trusted him without question. A very sweet story! Are there more coming?? These are all brilliant pieces of writing, GW! Keep it up! :-)

Author Reply: You? Speachless? I have accomplished something! Just put a note on this one to let you know that you are appreciated by me in all of my madness.

I think that too many folks thought of Merry as not to be trusted so I am sure he was surprised by all of the trust that Pippin put in him. Thanks to Sam, everyone will recover and eat well. Poor Frodo. He can cook, just not like Sam Gamgee can.

This was so funny!

I particularly liked where Pippin asked Merry why shouldn't *he* be green "this time". This time?

Author Reply: Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it. But you know how Merry is, his idea, his plan, and Pip is the one that gets to be green. Somewhere in his mind I think Pippin knew this was not the best of ideas but he still trusted Merry to get it right. LOL

Sam's quote was so close to Kermy's song too, lol! This one was both sweet and funny. I love that Pippin would trust Merry no matter what, and that Merry learned he needs to be a bit more careful with his suggestions. And of course Sam knows everything - he's Sam! Keep up the good work.

Author Reply: I love the trust between Pip and Merry and as to Kermit, well, who doesn't love Kermit the Frog? I have always loved that song. Sam keeps everything running smoothly. I hope they appreciate him because he knows what to do in most emergencies.

I just love Sam. The whole mission/quest/thing would have fallen apart without him. Grounded, I think you could say, as well as practical. Good grasp of the really important.

I enjoyed the way that Pippin asked Merry to tell him when not to trust him. That Pippin-Merry-Frodo bond is such an important part of who they are.

Author Reply: Thank you for the lovely review and I am glad that you are enjoying this little stories. I figure at that point in time Pippin didn't care what else happened just as long as he made Merry happy. A bit of hero worship, I figure. As for Sam, I don't think any of them could get along with out Sam. He's the one with the rope and the common sense, of course!

That was a very fun story! I must say the firs thing I thought of when I read enough to realize that it looked like Pip would be green for a while was Kermit the frog! I like the way you described Pippin's blind trust in Merry and Frodo pondering their relationship, very sweet! Thank you for the fun story!

Author Reply: Thank you for reading this one. So glad that it made you smile and think of Kermit. I was thinking of him too. LOL I'm glad the trust in Pip's and Merry's relationship came through too.

Sam to the rescue!!!! And a green Pippin, that is just too good. I will think of this now whenever I look at the little Kermit that I have by my computer. Once again, great fun!!!

Author Reply: I put in my own little Kermit trib. when Sam says that it can't be easy being green and Pippin agrees with him. I kept hearing that song while I was writing this one. LOL I guess I'm not too old for Kermit yet. Glad you and your little Kermit enjoyed it!

So, I'm chuckling my way through this lovely little piece, with its absolutely spot-on characterizations of the three cousins,(loved your opinion of Frodo as a cook--matches my ideas perfectly, LOL!) and you come up with this little gem:

He trusts you, cousin." Frodo went off to his own bed and left Merry standing there.

"Well I didn’t tell him that he should," Merry muttered to the empty parlor. "No one else does."

Poor Pip! and of course trust Sam to have a solution! I loved it.

Author Reply: I'm glad you and I agree on Frodo's cooking skills. I thought it might be amusing if he were a bit sensitive about it.
As to Frodo's observation on Pip trusting Merry, I figured that at these ages, Merry might not realize just how much influence he was having over Pippin. Leave it to Frodo to try and clue him in on this. (Also works well with my Trust a Brandybuck and a Took title.)
Sam is the practical one. I could just see the three of them looking at him and being amazed that they let such a simple idea elude them. Hence Frodo's comment about Sam coming from a practical family. LOL
Thanks so much for reading and reviewing. I look forward to more of your stories.
