| Oh my! That's all I can say. You know, the first time I read the books I didn't like Boromir at all, I didn't trust him. But the more I think about it, it wasn't really Boromir who did the wrong; it was the influence of the Ring. You capture that perfectly here. God bless, Galadriel Author Reply: Oh dear! I can't believe I never replied to this review! I'm so sorry, dear! Boromir does come off rather distant in the books. I liked Sean Bean's portrayal in the movies and he's a big part of how I interpret Boromir in the books. Boromir is often accused of villiany, but that is simply not in his character. The Ring truly is a treacherous thing. | |

| Poor Boromir. Yes. I see this as his thoughts. He would not realize the great achievement he had made in even shrugging off his need for the Ring after Frodo left him, but only his failure in submitting to temptation to begin with. A good deal like Frodo's own feelings after *he* claimed the Ring in the end. Author Reply: Exactly. I think Boromir and Frodo are very similar in this respect. This may be a reason why Frodo was so hard on himself. While I think he realized what the Ring had done to Boromir, he obviously would not have been able to trust the Man again, and so I think Frodo was not able to fully trust himself again after claiming the Ring. | |

| *sniffle, sniffle* Gosh darn it...Sean Bean made me so attached to Boromir... "I stole his faith in the nobility of Men." So poignant. Author Reply: I too missed Bean's presence in the last two movies. He brought an otherwise dry character to life, and I love Boromir because of him. | |

| Really really really nice. I'm quite fond of Boromir. Lovely, spare, economical and lyrical in a plain way. Author Reply: Thank you! I don't write Boromir very often, but I have great respect for his character. He was tempted by the Ring and fell to its power, but was then able to push that aside and fulfill his duty - just amazing. Thanks for reading. :) | |

| What a coincidence! Just today I read the Parth Galen chapter again :) Your characterization of Boromir is perfect! Despite what other people may say, I have always felt sympathy for Boromir and I'm sad that he had to die so soon. I think Sean Bean did a great job in the movies. Author Reply: That is quite perfect timing! Sean Bean was fantastic in the movies, and I truly missed and mourned his presence in the last two. It has made me appreciate Boromir that much more. Boromir is very deserving of our sympathy and empathy. His redemption cost him his life, and he wouldn't have had it any other way. Thank you for reading. :) | |

| Ah, yes, more amunition to fight the chauvinist!Boromir. You did a great job on this. Good job at developing Boromir's character in just a few short paragraphs. It's really sad that lots of people don't like Boromir just because of what happens in that first movie. So, thank you, this is a boon to all. Author Reply: I understand the temptation to write Chauvinist!Boromir. Boromir is a complex character and it takes some time to really understand him. This is one place where I think the movies actually improve upon the books - Sean Bean's performance was spot on and gave life to a character that, in the books, always seemed a bit flat to me. | |
