Trust a Brandybuck and a Took!  by Grey Wonderer 7 Review(s)
Anso the HobbitReviewed Chapter: 42 on 1/23/2006
That was just lovely! So tender and wonderful. :D I have never seen a story with Grandmother Took in earlier and the picture you paint of her is beautiful. :D

Author Reply: Thank you. Merry's Grandmother Took was the character I was to include in my challenge. This was one of Marigold's challenge stories. I had never given her much thought until I was writing this. I am very glad that you liked her. Thank you for reading!

I've read this before and just enjoyed it a second time. This is a wonderful moment between Merry and his Grandmother. Some day Merry will see a lot of the fair folk and he'll be sure of her story. but that won't match believing her just because.

So well done :) :)

Author Reply: There is nothing quite like trust. Thanks for reading this one again and for the lovely review! See you soon!

I remember this! I love the story of Merry, his Grandmother and the crystal. Good stuff.

Author Reply: Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it a second time. That's always nice to hear.

Aw, this gave me warm and fuzzy feelings! Grandmother Took sounds like a tough old bird and it's nice that she and Merry were able to share this moment and get to know each other a little bit. Wonder who Merry ever gave the crystal too?

Author Reply: Glad you liked it. I plan to write a second story about Merry and the crystal but so far haven't had time. At least I finally remembered to post this story to "Brandybuck and Took". I wrote it some time again for a Challenge and just forgot to put it here. Thanks for reading!

I was so happy to see this beautiful tale up! And I just had to have another read. :-) Your characterizations of Merry and his Grandmother are so spot on. You alwasy have Merry and Pippin nailed, but there is just something special about the way you portrayed the "before and after" relationship between Merry and his gramdmother. Very well done, my friend--and thanks for sharing it (again!).

Author Reply: Thank you for reading it again. I had hoped to write a second story using the crystal and Merry but so far I haven't had the time to do it. I have a rough idea of what it should be about but that's all at this point. Looking forward to reading your latest chapter tomorrow after work. It's nearly 3am here and I just go home so I am off to bed. Thanks again! You'll be hearing from me tomorrow!

You know, I do remember this with fondness from the Challenge. It is amazing to me how Marigold can give a person just the right combination of strange elements to bring out the best in them. And this is one of your best--a very simple and straightforward story, flashes of humor, and insight into the characters--I loved it then, and I think I like it even better now.

Author Reply: Thank you for saying so nice things. Marigold does have a way of getting a story out of a person, doesn't she? I'm glad you enjoyed this one and thank you for the review!

aww...that's sweet! reminds me a lot of my relationship with my own grandmother, actually. Pippin is so adorable. He has a right to be proud of himself! I would be.^_^ I just love your writing, darling. Makes me smile, even at quarter till five in the morning! Heehee! Talk to you some other time, darling!

Author Reply: Well, here's a surprise! I thought I was the only one up at this hour. (Haven't been to bed yet.) Thank you for the lovely review and I am glad that this made you smile. It's an older one but I've been meaning to post it here for a while now. Thanks for reading!
