Frodo's Bane and Pippin's Stomach  by Analyn 16 Review(s)

“Just like old times,” Pippin encouraged, wrapping an arm around the too-thin body of his wounded cousin. “What would you do without me to wake you up?”

“Sleep,” was Frodo’s drowsy, yet definite answer.

:) Love that such bantering can go on in such pain. God bless their hearts.

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

"So warm," Frodo murmured, drawing closer to what he perceived to be an enviable source of heat. Pippin tightened his protective hold on his cousin, and felt his eyes well up with tears upon realizing that he hadn't felt this cold since the snow-ball fight with Merry last Yule. "Thank you for keeping me warm, Pip," Frodo whispered leaning his head against the tween's shoulder.

Pippin tried to hide the built-up tears as he readjusted the blankets around his sick ward. "You're welcome, dear Frodo."

More love! Thank you. What a blessing for Frodo.

He had learned early on that Frodo often wanted to hold someone’s hand, when the pain began to grow, he would automatically reach out for someone. Or if it was really intense he would just grab hold of the nearest thing (even if it meant clutching at his own clothes or to clutch at his heart as he tried to fight the pain). But that never did anything. It would only leave him gasping, breathless, and in tears. What would always help was to hold a hand. Whether it was just the comforting presence of a friend, or the physical warmth of the hand, Pippin hadn’t thought to ask.

Ah love! Such heroism displayed here in the silent suffering but always there was the need for love and warmth. Thank you for this.

Poor Frodo and poor Pip - both blaming themselves when neither really are to blame. The Ring was calling and the Nazgul did not need to see a fire to know that. But love the love here - Frodo and Pip's hand holding, forgiveness.

I wish you would continue this and the More than Mithril - where is Sam?!! Hurry up, dear - your Frodo needs you! I admire such resilience under torture and not wanting to lie. The nightmare memory of the dogs and the orcs was well done.

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Just a quick note to tell you how much I enjoyed your story thus far. I really like how you wrote the Pippin-Frodo dynamic, and I loved seeing Pippin get a chance to comfort his older cousin. Please write more soon--I'm looking forward to reading the rest!

Ooh, intriguing! Pippin and Frodo alone vs. the wraiths (and the wraiths inside)! I love fanfics about the quest that create new adventures in the gaps between scenes, so I'm enjoying this story bunches. I especially loved your descriptions of Pippin's guilt about the fire. Hopefully a little Pippin-Frodo bonding time will give Pippin some time to "make up" for previous mishaps and save the day. Make 'em proud, Pip! ;-)

Somehow I managed to leave you a totally blank review with nothing but my email attached a minute ago. Sorry about that. I meant to leave this instead:

Wonderful first chapter. I love your Pippin POV and description of the marshes. Looking forward to more!

Author Reply: Well, you've got plenty more if you've only read the first chapter. Enjoy! As for the blank review, that did confuse me for a second, but don't worry about it. I deleted that.

What an experience for Pippin! He's growing up so fast on this trip. And I do love this...

"Frodo’s strength may have been diminishing, but his will and determination were about as strong and stubborn as ever."
