Antane's Anthology  by Antane 3 Review(s)

Aww!

I've heard/read the Ring and its destruction compared to a rape of Frodo - in fact, I remember you making such comparisons many times. But I don't think I really understood that until now. Yes, it would be like nothing so much as that. Your portrayal is chilling, but lovely of the forgiving love that at least begins the healing process right there at the mountain.

Author Reply: Being a mistress of angst, speaking to another mistress (or at least former mistress and perhaps once and future one?) I thank you for enjoying if such would the right word here. :)

Namarie, God bless, Melinyel, Antane :)

That unstinting love of Sam for his Master in the end saved not only Middle Earth and his Master's life, but his Master's soul as well. A wonderful response to the prompt, and the perfect one for your writing. Well done.

Author Reply: Le hannon, my dear, for enjoying! Appreciate it so much. :)

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Excellent and complex portrayal of Frodo at the Fire.

I was surprised that you joined Frodo and Sauron in the first person plural -- then impressed at the insight.

Again: this is really, really good.

A small typo: "a gentle hand takes me own" should surely be "my own"?

Author Reply: Oh, those pesky typos, I agree it should be my, Sam would say me perhaps but not Frodo. But many thanks for enjoying nonetheless! I was rather afraid of this since Tolkien said Frodo likely had no memories of this time (I assume due to the intensity of the terrible rape) so how could I do an accurate job but I was listening to the BBC adaptation and thought it would fit in that version at least and the poem that inspired it. I'm glad you liked the surprising insight for perhaps this is indeed what it felt like, awful as it must have felt.

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)
