I'm surprised that I am quite captivated by this fic- the fic so far is very vivid very well described and very intriguing .
Poor faramir and Aragorn on having to endure this. I like your h/c a lot and hope for a lot more. I hope that those cruel cruel men in charge of this shall all perish !
And hope that Aragorn will be reunited with Arwen soon and healed even more !
Also aragorns trust to faramir is damaged so have to see how that is restored. I've read this fic straight for two hours that's how captivated I was.
Great job and hope to see better times in store for our dear heroes soon!!

Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review. I'm thrilled you are so gripped by this story. I like justice to prevail in my writing.

If only Faramir did a bit more flaunting of his own achievements - admitting how terribly he has been affected by the actions he had to commit in order to rescue Aragorn from torment and certain death. Weeping over the necessity. Pleading for understanding. Aragorn seems much more confident when being the one dishing out care rather than when receiving it. If Faramir would only let his emotions free, the king would stand a chance of having some sense inserted into his thick head.

But no. Faramir has learned to be stoic, blame himself for other people's failings and expects to endure cruel punishment for things that are not his fault. Really! Sometimes he's as thick as Aragorn. They deserve each other!!

Author Reply: Thank you for your much appreciated review and for all your support throughout this story.I have loved reading and looked forward to your comments very much. You are so right about Faramir, only in the sequel(on the other site) will he let his emotions be revealed. These two certainly deserve each other !

My first draft of this story was quite different and Faramir was quickly forgiven ut it didn't work. If you are interested in some of the earlier ideas, I posted them at http://lindahoyland.livejournal.com/2341.html

Of course, chopping Devorin up after he was dead wouldn't bother him at all. But it's still better for Aragorn not to have that done.

And five years exile doesn't seem too bad a penalty. Fontos will, hopefully, learn more positive lessons from it than resentment and bitterness. Especially since he's not going to lose his lands.

The rewarding of the good is better for the king. Shame he can't see that, however much Damrod etc did in his support, FARAMIR DID FAR MORE.

Author Reply: Thank you for your much appreciated review.Aragorn seems to have a lind spot where Faramir is concerned, alas.

Nasty people. Not going to be any nicer when given their moment in court. And doing their best to drag Faramir down with them.

Keep in mind, Aragorn, that, if Faramir were really a traitor, he would have killed you rather than rescued you. It would have been much, much easier.

Author Reply: Thank you for your much appreciated review. I fear these traitors are past redemption.

Heal mentally and perhaps come to realise that it was done out of love. And was one of the harder things that Faramir ever had to do.

Although it will take a while.

I hope he manages to keep his marbles throughout the trial - and refrains from behaving like his captors. Otherwise he will be driving Arwen away from him. She likes his noble side - but would probably be repelled by a vindictive petty-minded tyrant. We can hope.

Author Reply: Thank you for your much appreciated review. I think it was the hardest thing Faramir ever had to do as it almost cost his soul.

Arwen is very loyal but would shun a tyrant.

Imrahil is acting thick, too. Very noble, my dear Prince - but who got Aragorn away from the rebels? Not you, I fancy.

No. Elven baths cannot cure everything - not when the mind is still sick. I suspect Aragorn needs to heal mentally before he'll lose that particular scar.

Author Reply: Thank you for your much appreciated review. I never thought Imrahil the brightest spark,as he grumbles about Pippin's lack of protocol when Faramir is dying !You are right about Aragorn needing to heal in mind before he can heal in body.

Engage brain, Aragorn. What good would it have done either of you if Faramir had refused in revulsion and you were both tortured and killed? Or is that too obvious to grasp?

And learn that when Faramir says something hurts 'a little', it means he's a whisker away from falling apart. Stoicism is his middle name. Right alongside 'everything in the world that goes wrong is my fault'.

Author Reply: Thank you for your much appreciated review. You are spot on about Faramir. He is too stoic for his own good at times.

Some of the complications are of your own making, Aragorn. (And Denethor's, but it's too late for him to do anything about it.) Enjoy the simple friendship with Eomer - but don't throw away a more complex relationship!

And I'm really not surprised that Aragorn is left fearing a) the dark, b) solitude and c) confinement. It would be more surprising if he could just throw them off.

Author Reply: Thank you for your much appreciated review. Yes, I agree Denethor has played his part in this complex tangle !I try to be as realistic as I can andavoid overnight cures in my stories.

Fontos is a fool. But he could have been worse. He's very lucky that - except when looking at his Steward - Aragorn is able to see further into a brick wall than most. Or he would be greeting the dawn without a head. And various other key body parts.
