So glad for the update even though I'm a little late in reviewing. I must say I love your fanfiction as it allows me to step away from this world into a fantasy one created with such love and care. And somehow I feel that your story always ties in with Professor Tolkien's ideas of continuing the fight against evil in whatever form and manner.
The years of quiet preparation have been intricately detailed and I am looking forward to your take on the War of the Ring as seen by the elves of Mirkwood.
Have a merry Christmas.

Author Reply: Thank you! Honestly, that's why I write it. It's my emotional support story!

Ah hah! First Gollum the wanderer, now enter Aragorn the wanderer, whose paths will fatefully cross, sooner now than later. It is good, and quite plausible to see the Elves of the Greenwood using the time of comparative peace to prepare for the next battle, which in their experience will always come. I have seen authors make reference to Gimli, son of Gloin as having been around by the time of the Quest for Erebor, but considered too young to follow his cousins Fili and Kili into danger. Soon, as elves count time, a certain Frodo Baggins will be born into the Shire and come under the influence of "The Hobbit", Mr. Bilbo Baggins who had walked with Dwarves and Elves. Then a decade or so after that, sons and daughters will be born in Gondor and Rohan whom fate will also involve in the coming battle.
I have seen expressed by several writers on this site and others that Bilbo's quiet keeping of the mostly sleeping Ring had much to do with that time of quiet preparation. Oh, my! Your description of the battle with the wraths is exciting. And yes, why not have Aragorn learn about fighting wraiths from one who has spent an age of the world in ther shadow. Indeed, whom a young man is in love with may not interest Thran and Legolas yet. They may find out soon that is a fateful choice indeed.

The story continues. As I recall, at the time of the Battle of Five Armies there was a ten year old fatherless Dunedain child living in Imladris with his mother. That child will eventually grow up to capture Gollum. But it will take a few decades of mortal life to get to that point!Thranduil and his people have begun yet another season of watching and waiting. One thing that you have done here is create a vibrant picture of why the hunt for Gollum might have become PERSONAL for these folks. He eluded them once. Then decades later, when the previously mentioned, now grown Dunedain lad deposits him in their dungeon, he does it again!
I can very much see what may have led Legolas to take it upon himself to go to Imladris to report what he must have seen as his own repeat failure. And, nice
use of one of the better movie lines, ...every road, every river, nothing moves but that I know it.... To me that stands for Thranduil's struggle to guard his land.

Yay!!!! What an amazing thing to find on Thanksgiving! This is one of the best chapters yet! Brilliant, of course it makes sense that Aragorn would've learned to fight the Nazgul from Thranduil's people. Hope you and the family had a wonderful Thanksgiving!!!

While some flawed grammar remains, this story, and especially this third part WOULD have made me a LOTR fan, if old MERP roleplaying by Iron Crown Enterprises wouldn't have already achieved that. Now, I feel once more tempted to write some fiction myself. Far from my usual style, as the demands & standards for Middle-earth are higher than most.

The story here takes place, before Sauron is fully back in power and before Mordor clearly is the enemy again. It therefore takes place BEFORE the War of the Ring!

A story of love, of duty, of bedchamber debates, and of adventurous courage. We get a wonderful depiction of Thranduil the person & king, Thranduille, to please my proofreading software.

Yes, main char from who's perspective we read the most is the King of the Mirkwood Elves aka Wood Elves.

Adversary is the `Necromancer of Dol Guldur´, who happens to be Sauron in his weakened state and deceitful, as always.

It is a mature story, dying, poison, treachery, and murder in it. Even the mention of `sex´, which back in the old days made geeks & roleplayers feel their nerves tingle, as nowadays only Cosplay-ASMR videos tend to do it. ;-)

While note a masterpiece yet, this is a SOLID work and quite worth reading. I read 22 chapters in one night, and I regretted running out of legal stay-awake powder (energy sniff) to finish it in `one fell stroke aka one stupid but happy night wasted on it´.

Kudos, dear author!

Oooh, finally another chapter. So this time it is Gollum who is playing havoc in Mirkwood and getting on the Elvenking's nerves. Let's hope Aragorn gets here soon. i am really excited to see how you write his character. Cheerio

Wow! The war is over. The dead buried. There will be a brief moment of peace in Middle Earth until, within Mr. Baggin's mortal lifetime, Sauron will finally be destroyed for good. But after this battle, Elves, Dwarves and Men will face whatever comes together. As others have said, reading your work is like seeing the original story expanded, enlarged. It has been like being there, watching, listening, smelling the wind with the characters. As long as you keep writing, I wish to keep reading. "Merry be the Greenwood while the world is young"!

Author Reply: Thank you!! I hope to write a lot more, so we'll see how it goes.

This chapter was simply amazing.. I loved your last line especially, it is the whole conclusion of the struggle that the elven king has led against the Necromancer. And it was great to see Thranduil reclaim the heirlooms of his house *smile*.

Author Reply: Thanks! It's the end of an era, really.

Hi conquistadora.
Thanks for another great chapter. I've just finished rereading the hobbit and I am amazed how your work ties in with Tolkien's.
It is great to see Thranduil getting some peace of mind with Sauron aka Necromancer finally banished from the borders of Mirkwood. And yes, as Gandalf said there are many things to be grateful for in this world...
