We Were Young Once ~ III  by Conquistadora 175 Review(s)

I don't often review, but I wanted to drop in and tell you that I have been reading your tale of Thranduil from the beginning, and loving it. I eagerly wait for each installment. I love how you so skillfully blend gap filling with canon, and bring this character to vivid and sympathetic life.

I recall when Thranduil was forced to yield the crowns to the Dwarves, and I rejoice that in this chapter, he has them again.

Be assured that I will continue to read this saga, for so long as you spin it out.

It is do good to see Glorfindel. Do you think he could visit Mirkwood?

The scene between Thranduil and Tauriel in movies was horrible. Yours is perfect!!!!

Author Reply: Thanks! I'm having fun repurposing drips and drabs from the movies that would work better elsewhere or need reframing. :D

I absolutely love the bond between Thranduil and forest. Tauriel's promotion was beautifully written!!!!

The long defeat was fought by more than just Celeborn and Galadriel, for certain, and it makes complete sense that Thranduil would be worn out - even without Sauron poking around in his mind. It’s good that Gandalf was able to come and strengthen him. I feel like we must be getting close to other well-known events! We shall see, anyway. Regardless, hopefully his outlook will be able to remain better for a while.

Enjoying, thx as always for writing!

I almost missed this chapter! :-) I don’t blame him at all for not committing his forces to that cause - it would lead to nothing but death and for no real purpose. He did warn them, and not only didn’t they listen but they didn’t even take the warning with grace. If there are no lives to be saved by going in, there’s no reason at this point to do so …

Thx as always for sharing!

It is nice to be reminded once in a while, isn’t it? :)

I enjoyed seeing Thranduil’s affinity with the forest and the forest creatures in this chapter. I also appreciate his thoughtfulness for their neighbors during the difficult times - and honestly, I don’t really blame him for working out a way to part the Dwarves from a bit more of their hoard than they might have wanted….

Nice job, as always! I enjoyed, thx for writing!

The previous chapter was amazing but this one made me cry and broke my heart.
