Ha! How can you *not* read something called 'Pip-napped'? :-P Didn't go very well for the kidnappers, did it? Of course, going up against Aragorn, Faramir, Merry, and Pippin is bad enough...but you add in a palantir and it's all over.... Thanks for writing!

Fabulous and funny and touching and just generally well-written and totally enjoyable. Author Reply: Why, thank you very much! I had a good deal of fun with this story, as it was a special request for a friend. And thank *you* very much for stopping by to read and review! 8-)

Ah, what a sweet fic about our little Pip. I don't usually enjoy Pip fics as I am fairly Frodocentric, but this was delightful. Author Reply: Well, thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it, even though Frodo wasn't in it--although you will notice that he and Sam had a brief mention. I'm simply hobbit-centric, and love all four of 'em--so even in a Pippin-centric story, I can't leave the others out entirely--even if they are nowhere nearby! But my favorite stories to read *and* write feature all four of them--and Bilbo too, if I can canonically sneak him in! LOL!

Very nice. No, Tiny and Slouch aren't exactly the brightest bulbs in the pack, are they? And I think they'll receive some leniency, but no more than they deserve. Very nice end to the first quarrel between the future Thain and his Lady! Author Reply: *grin* No, they're not--not the sharpest knives in the drawer; a few bricks shy of a load; a few slices short of a loaf; their elevators don't go all the way to the top, either! LOL! I see them as the classic "dumb buddies"! They are pals because of course no one else wants anything to do with them. There's no real cruelty in them--just laziness and selfishness in about equal combination. I thought so. I think they will try to communicate themselves a bit more clearly after this!

Ahh, newly-weds. They don't differ much just because they come in different species. Arwen's advice to Pippin was very wise! I wonder if Aragorn has had his own occasions for gift giving? Very possibly! Although I expect Arwen has learned a good deal more patience than Diamond - over the last 3000 years. What stupid criminals, though! I think Aragorn's penalty should have something to do with SCRUBBING. They are a grubby and idle pair - and I daresay the streets of Minas Tirith could do with a good cleaning. Especially after market day. Author Reply: *grin* No, not really. I'd been reminiscing a bit about my own newly-wed days this week, as we've just celebrated our 30th, and I can *so* remember how insecure and oversensitive I was as a bride. It's actually funny now to remember, but it wasn't then. And my DH was just like Pippin--rather than argue, he would simply and unexpectedly give in to me, taking all the wind out of my sails, and leaving me with no place to put my mad. And of course, *he* couldn't understand why I was still upset, if I'd gotten my way, LOL! I'm sure that Arwen and Aragorn had their moments--but a 40 year engagement I am quite sure would have given them a rather unique brand of patience! I can't see them quarreling over trivialities. Although I would not be surprised if they annoyed one another once in a while... Oh, definitely stupid--and I do like your idea for punishment. Perhaps Pippin will suggest that to the King! At least *those* two won't be eaten by a passing troll! *giggle*

Oh, that was great! The dream at the beginning was very realistic in that it was rather jumbled all together in the way of dreams. Poor Diamond, the first quarrel would happen then. And I just love the way the crisis was handled! The Dirty Duck-ugh. Doesn't even sound nice, and no wonder no one ate there! :( Great job, both of you! God bless, Galadriel Author Reply: Yes, you are quite right! That was why I knew immediately that it had to be a dream or a hallucination--it's what gave me the whole idea... I agree. "The Dirty Duck" does not sound like a good name for an eating place, does it? Poor Tiny, he never had a chance of making it work--but of course, it *had* to be someone *elses* fault that it failed... Thanks ever so much--I'm glad you liked it!

Bravo! Bravo!! Bravisimo!!! I finally finished this, part of it got read on a computer at the car repair place :-) This was a wonderful story, Lin and Dreamflower!! I hated having to keep starting and stopping. "Tiny" was hilarious, actually, he and Slouch both were. I wasn't even sure they would be able to read Pip's ransom note. And of course no self respecting hobbit would eat in a filthy inn!!! Pippin was so clever to hide under the bed. "Pippin batted it aside with his sword, and then backed up quickly as the Man lunged at him. “Don’t!” Pippin warned. “I’ve killed a troll with this sword!”" That'll put the fear into the slackards!!! Great fun, thank you for great read! Author Reply: I know how it is to try and read a good story when there are constant interruptions!! I'm glad you persisted, LOL! I imagined Tiny and Slouch as these two hapless bunglers--they're not really mean, just lazy and dishonest and not too bright, and Tiny has this obsession about his inn. They're friends because--well, no one else will have them on a bet. And I thought the motive for wanting to kidnap a hobbit was, well, kind of hobbity! Yes, actually, I'm quite sure it did. I think the only thing that frightened Pippin was that he might actually have to hurt them. I'm glad you liked it--it was lots of fun to write!

And so the rescue comes in the nick of time. Great stuff Dreamflower. And I know it was a dream but...did he ever get away from his sisters? Author Reply: Yes, of course--was there any doubt? *grin* Well, Lin thought up the dream. I would suppose he might have. There are two references in the story to two other stories of hers: Till Death Do Us Part http://www.storiesofarda.com/chapterview.asp?sid=3065&cid=19820 Spider Webs http://www.storiesofarda.com/chapterview.asp?sid=129&cid=670 The first one refers to his original "kidnapping" by his sisters, and the second one to the prank Celandine pulled. They are both stories that Lin wrote for Dana, which is why I referenced them. And they are so cute and funny!

A very big 'Thank you' to Dana and Lindelea for the idea - and of course to you for writing it! That was a wonderful story (and, naughty as I am, a wonderful distraction from work *grin*) As for the quarrel, I can see both sides - Diamond feeling overwhelmed and neglected in this strange, big city, Pippin feeling bound to duty and wanting to spend time and to celebrate with his old friends. As far as I'm concerned, both of them are right, and I couldn't say one of them is wrong. Well, they are both very young and still have a lot to learn. The two villains were rather naive, I'd say, and they underestimated not only Pippin, but Elessar as well. I don't know ... on the one hand, scrubbing latrines for the rest of his life would be a fitting punishment for Tiny (funny name for someone so big and fat, btw), but on the other hand, I felt a bit sorry for him, as he seemed to love his dirty Inn so much. Dirty Duck, indeed! Though of course it was unexcusable what he did, and it was his own fault that he couldn't run the Inn any longer. And his reason who was to blame ... *shakes head* You know, this story could as a little side effect help Merry and Pippin to overcome the bad memories associated with the palantír. The way Aragorn used it here, it was very useful and helped to rescue Pippin, and nothing bad happened. Maybe Aragorn should let him have a nice little glimpse of the Shire or something like this, so he can see the palantír in harmless action himself. Anyway, I enjoyed the story immensely! Author Reply: The two of them are wonderfully inventive, aren't they? *grin* Yes, you have it exactly right. Both of them had good points--but they are young and still adjusting to the subtle "give-and-take" of marriage; Diamond is still under the romantic delusion that Pippin should be able to read her mind if he really loves her, and Pippin is operating under the usual male assumption that his wife actually means what she says--even though he did pick up a bit on her mixed signals, he did not know how to interpret them. This particular lesson was learned the hard way, but he had good advice from his King and Queen! Yes, poor Tiny and Slouch. Hopefully, Aragorn will listen to Pippin about their punishment. The two of them are not very bright, and they are lazy; whatever punishment they get, they will need constant supervision! I think this may very well help Merry. And someone *has* written a little story about Pippin being given another look in the palantir, and a glimpse of the Shire, to help with his nightmares--I wish I could remember *who*...it was a very sweet little story... Glad you liked it!

That turned out great! You took my ridiculous premise and turned it into a real story! This reads so very "real". It appears you must have been a newlywed at some point in time. LOL! Very nicely done, and I hope Dana gets a chance to read it very soon. Author Reply: It wasn't all that ridiculous if one looked at it and realized that it had to be a dream or a hallucination, and that was my starting point! Oh, yeah! LOL! Since I was just having my thirtieth anniversary earlier this week, I've been reminiscing over our days as newlyweds. My poor DH! He tried so hard to be helpful and understanding, and I was *so* insecure and sensitive--I'm sure I drove him nuts! And, like Pippin in this story, he was one who would not fight or argue--he would simply unexpectedly give in to me when I was gearing up for a real argument. It would take all the wind out of my sails, and leave me flustered. And then, of course, he could not figure out why I was still upset--I got my way, didn't I? We soon worked through all of that, but the adjustment period is very funny to look back on now--and wasn't at all funny to go through at the time! She did--and she said she loves it! Mission accomplished!
