Four Nights and Three Days  by Antane 30 Review(s)

Wow wow wow. LOVED it. So very hobbity... sad but comfy... subdued playfulness and deep honor and respect... I really enjoyed that Antane. I loved everything about it. Poor Frodo. I especially liked how you brought Eru in, and Elrond's simple "hanon le, ada" was very touching... to hear Elrond call someone Ada... sends chills up my arms and warms my heart. Thank you for this wonderful gem.

Author Reply: Hannon le for this very kind review! So glad you enjoyed!

I'm reviewing two chapters here, since I have so much to catch up on here at SoA. I love the brief but vivid look into what Frodo was thinking and feeling, the voices of Eluvatar and Elrond. Lovely linguistic touch, too! (This makes me curious, was "Iorhael" ever used in the movies?) And the sweet assureances to Frodo from Iluvatar are heart-warming.

And this chapter is a wonderful turning point. The love in the midst of so much pain...even relief, maybe, to hear Frodo speak at last, giving some sign that he is still with them. Poor Hobbits, though, there's nothing worse than seeing one you love suffer and knowing that it's necessary for any relief, and not being able to do anything about it. I love the thankful prayers when it's all over, and the ending of the chapter with all at rest for a while.

I can see Pip singing "Till the Dawning of Day" with his 'Tookish' lilt and that so-sweet trebble. I never thought about it before, really. Thank you so much for including the translation notes--that's kind! :)

Lovely two chapters. It's not over, is it? :) You can't end with "The war continued," can you? :)
God bless,
Galadriel

Author Reply: Hantanyel, ammelda! Glad you enjoyed. I don't recall Iorhael was ever used in the movies. This particular story is ending, but I'm going to be updating Children of Iluvatar some soon.

A proper summation--the battle won, the war continuing. But without this warrior there will be far less chance of victory.

So it is found and his light can shine a little more freely again. Great description of the pain of watching another suffer. I love the ideas of the tears blessing where they touch and Sam's falling into the wound.

Author Reply: Hantanyel, my dear for this and all your reviews! I thought into the wound was the best place for Sam's tears myself. :)

Another well done chapter depicting the love and care between all of the hobbits and dear Frodo.

Loved the lullabys as well! The Queen always comes up with the best lyrics for any occassion, doesn't she.

Namarie,

Your description of the hobbits crying as Elrond worked to find the shard painted a vivid picture in my mind. I had to smile at Pippin's wondering if anyone was listening to their prayers and I loved the thank you's when the shard was removed.

Nice job of getting into Frodo's mind. Scary and effective.

Another light grew and that too drove toward Frodo’s heart. He stood in the midst of a battlefield and he feared for the strength to fight until the end.

Lovely!

Yes, Light battles with Darkness for the heart and soul of Frodo Baggins.

Wonderfully written, Antane.

Author Reply: Hannon le, my dear Larner! Glad you enjoyed. I thought it made sense that Frodo gets to know a little the One he will soon say yes to at the Council.

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)
