Knave of Hearts  by Grey Wonderer 21 Review(s)

Waaaahhh! Pip rules! I love your flustered Frodo (who doesn't have enough hip :D) and smart-mouth Merry ("Do we have rope?"). Thanks for the chuckle! :)

Author Reply: Thank you for reading! Frodo had his hands full in this one, didn't he? Sooner or later he is going to have to consider the rope idea for both cousins. LOL

Oh, I just love your writing! What fun! I'm substitute teaching and cracked up while reading this piece. Guess I'd better wait until after school before I read the next one!

Thanks for a fun story!

Author Reply: That you for a lovely review and for reading! Glad it made you laugh a bit.

Merry always had a cynical understanding of his little cousin's tricksiness. Even if he denied being shrewd! But Saradoc's got Pippin's number - even if he does let him slip away.

The torment, though, of putting Frodo, Merry and Pippin in a room with jam tarts and then telling them not to eat any! I'm not surprised at all that it ended in general mayhem and stickiness. (I love Pippin's bells. Just such a sweet picture.)

Author Reply: Thanks for the review. It was too much of Esmeralda to expect the lads to stay out of the tarts, wasn't it? Those bells just keep turning up in my wee Pippin stories. I'm glad you like them!

Clever Saradoc, not to be fooled by innocent baby Pippin! And how cute would a tiny hobbit baby be with bells on his trousers?! *melts into little puddle of goo*

That pursuit down the passage had me rolling off my chair! Poor Frodo, somewhat bemused and disbelieving at first that Pip could be so naughty. He is not having a good afternoon, is he? I love your Merry too - they all spring from the screen in all their jam-covered glory!! Wonderful, and just what I needed this week!

Author Reply: The bells are in several of my stories now. I got the idea from those little bells that people often put on baby shoes and for some reason the bells keep turing up in my stories. Glad you enjoyed them.

I love slap-stick and so the chase down the hall sort of became a slap-stick event. Thank you for the lovely review and for reading. I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Look what you've done? You tempted me. :p

But it was good to laugh again! Poor Frodo! He's perfectly innocent. His cousins seem to be a force he had never been able to control. And poor Saradoc also! But at least he is wise enough to see through the thief :)

And now, seeing that scene in the parlour - Esmeralda very concerned with her guests, Frodo and Merry arguing, Saradoc dropping the child - let me turn back time some 8 or 9 years. The raising of Frodo and Merry must have been utter chaos :)

Author Reply: You know, I bet Frodo and Merry were quite a challenge for Saradoc and Esmeralda. It's a wonder they managed to get those two raised don't you think? LOL
Thanks for reading and reviewing and I am very glad that this made you laugh.

ROTFL!!!!!!!!!!

“She won’t miss one or two,” Merry objected. “Look at all of those. Do you think she counted them?”

My mom actually DOES count the number of cookies she bakes or brownines she cut! She knows when someone's been into them and shouldn't have been (namely me)

Poor, poor Frodo. He always mean well ... he should have taken both his young cousins to see the new pony. It's truly a wonder that he was not more traumatized by all these incidents involving wee Pippin. I can just picture Bilbo next suggesting they go visit Tuckborough (or that Pippin come visit Bag End) and Frodo backing away, then running for his life down The Hill, screaming the entire way. LOL!

I LOVE your Merry. He is just so full of cleverness and he knows exactly what to say and when to say it, so as to implicate Frodo, but not himself ... to a point. Smart, cheeky little bugger! :D I really enjoyed Merry and Frodo's argument, too. It takes a lot for Frodo to lose his cool and be reduced to a shouting match. And it's realistic too, if Frodo ever really did spend part of his childhood growing up in Buckland alongside Merry, until he was adopted.

So, when will Esmeralda be turned onto Pippin's ways, as Frodo was? It seems that Saradoc is the only one semi-listening to Merry, who knows the baby the best. And when is she going to also realize that poor Frodo has nothing against Pippin, but that her own son seems a mite touchy around the baby?

I love reading about the cousins at this age, for they are all still children, yet all three are together as well. *sighs happily*

This was such a great read, Grey Wonderer, one that I enjoyed immensely!

Author Reply: Thank you! I just figured that a Hobbit-mum would have to be smart enough to count the baked goods. Sounds like your mom is very clever too. LOL

Thank you for the lovely review and I am very glad you enjoyed my Frodo and Merry arguement. I do think that all of the hobbits, as they grew up were bound to argue. They were all so different in personality and age that it just had to happen.

As to when Esmeralda will finally catch on, well, I'm certain that event is coming at some point.

Another adorable adventure for little Jingle Pants Took. I think if I had to babysit him I'd strip him down and put him in the tub to start with! *g*

Author Reply: LOL There's an idea. You may be right. Personally, I think Merry's idea about the rope would work. Babies aren't very good with knots. Thanks for reading!

ROTFL!!! Oh my gosh--I *LOVE* these Frodo-Merry-Baby Pippin tales! That little Pippin *is* a story stealer, thief of tarts, thief of hearts. :-) The scene where he runs away from Frodo and Merry crying "Nonononono!" had me rolling!

Merry is a heart-stealing, devious little imp, too, and Frodo the poor victim in all these wonderful yarns! I loved this most excellent story from beginning to end...or shall we have more "little Pippin/devious Merry/victim Frodo tales soon? I hope so! :-)

I simply have to write one of these in which Frodo knows what's coming. I am picking on poor Frodo far too much. Maybe I will think of something over the holiday. Thanks for this lovely review and for reading. Have a great Thanksgiving, PF!
