Kaylee ArafinwielReviewed Chapter: 3 on 10/26/2011
Poor Dahlia, missing her family! But at least Frodo (and Merry!) helped her have a Merry Yule!

(Good double meaning, lol!)

Author Reply: I enjoy writing Dahlia, though she's only appeared in a few of my stories.

Awww, sweet Fro! I feel for Dahlia having to be away from her family on the holiday, but Frodo and Merry took care of that bit of sadness!

Author Reply: Yes, poor Dahlia was a bit homesick. Frodo is a sweet lad, and who could help being cheered up by such a "Merry" baby?

Dahlia must have an easy job, as Frodo did so much of her work ;)

Of course poor Dahlia had to feel lonely, having to stay at the Hall with nothing to do. That gives too much time to think of her family. I am glad Frodo remembered her and gave her the gift. I think that was typical of Frodo, to have something for her. No wonder Larner was inspired by the idea of this painting, as she made Frodo so talented in this regard :)

Author Reply: He did make life easier for her, didn't he? *grin* However, we know that the self-conscious working class hobbit is not going to be real comfortable with that.

But Frodo's a real sweetie, and he wanted to show he his thanks for her care of his Merry.

How good to see Frodo happy again with his little Merry, and what a dear, sweet thoughtful lad to think of Dahlia and give her a gift.

Author Reply: Merry cheered his Frodo up a good deal, didn't he? And you've described young Frodo to a T. And Dahlia knew it, and will treasure it.

I remember feeling like Dahlia during the holidays when I was stationed overseas, so I almost needed a hanky when I read this heartwarming tale. Frodo is such a thoughtful little lad!

Author Reply: Frodo *is* thoughtful and kind-hearted, and he adores Merry, so of course he'd have a soft spot for Merry's nursemaid. Poor Dahlia, she was young and homesick, but her two lads cheered her up!

Aww! How sweet of Frodo to give Dahlia a gift and to let her know that he considers her a friend. Just like something Frodo would do. Even at that age, he was ever thoughtful. Baby!Merry is adorable.

Author Reply: Frodo's a sweet lad, and he had to appreciate all her efforts for his beloved little cousin.

I think of Merry as one of these cheerful babies who laugh and smile a lot--I saw one in the post office today that made me think of him. He was just giggling and squealing--soooo cute!

Oh, yes, trust Frodo to remember Dahlia on Second Yule! And her first picture to ever receive! I hope that in years to come she continues to treasure it.

Author Reply: And you showed so beautifully that she *did* in fact do so! I have to thank you again--it always gives me a warm fuzzy to know something of mine inspired another writer.

Frodo is so kind and caring to make Yule a happier time for everyone.

Author Reply: Kind and caring are part of Frodo's very nature--he's always thoughtful of others' feelings.
