How powerful and introspective - so glad to finally hear Frodo's voice.
So sad and haunting !

Indeed I feel like faramir is an unsung hero In lotr and therefore I appreciate him so much more. Really like these ficlets/drabbles especially this one.
Faramir should be proud of himself :)

I never did see Boromir as truly evil, and I don't think many people have.
I'm glad I found a little something explaining why he tried to take the Ring from Frodo

Very nice. Frodo's self-identification with Gollum is something I usually set aside since the films Subtlety-Maced it into my head--so it was nice to be mildly reminded of this in a voice that sounds genuinely like Frodo's and does not descend into Gothic angst. (The choice of drabble for format helped, too.)

I think, though, that Sam may understand a bit more than Frodo's willing to admit. He, too, after all, bore the Ring, and through that experience pitied Gollum enough to spare him when it mattered the most.

I seem to remember reading this before. It used to be said that the soul resides in the shadow, and so someone who lost his shadow had also lost his soul. I've often seen Frodo and Sam as opposite sides of the same coin; in ways this is also true of Frodo and Gollum, both of them starting as Hobbit Ringbearers, one's natural bent toward corruption allowing the Ring easy purchase on his soul, the other finally taken by the Ring.

Perhaps Frodo should hope that this particular shadow DID find its way across the Sea, that together they might search for and find the lost innocence. And yet, in taking the finger wearing the Ring Gollum managed to free Frodo of Its domination--temporarily, at least.

A powerful piece.

An interesting little piece. Those two were indeed kindred spirits in a way. I would hope in some way Frodo did come to terms with his 'shadow' and so be able to completely heal.

Happy Thanksgiving right back!

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

I like the way you present Frodo's loneliness, his feeling of isolation. A beautifully written, and rather chilling, drabble - well done!

Excellent. I think this is an aspect that has been little explored. Yes, it is entirly credible that thoughts of Gollum would take up much of Frodo's mental energy. Well thought out and well worded.

Wow, I feel for Frodo, really, always have. It must have been hard for him after the ring was gone. Lots of emotion in just a few words, very powerful.

Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I'm pleased you liked this and found it powerful. I rarely write Frodo I must admit.
