This was a great chapter -- I really like your take on Elladan, as just willing to kind of go along with whatever and be a laid-back curiosity for a bunch of hobbits. :-P I absolutely loved "his speaking voice alone enough to make the serving maid sigh". :-) I can seriously just picture it...

I'm glad things are going so smoothly for them, don't know if that will continue but it's been a nice trip for all so far.

AWW! The last two lines of this chapter made me just melt. You know I am one to read mostly drama, so it is so nice to read a bit of well-written fluff... I am enjoying myself quite a bit.

I love Frodo's hesitation and then quick recovery. I imagine he will ask many questions, and Estel and Elladan will need to be careful about what they say to the perceptive lad. Hmm, if Bilbo is over 100, that means Frodo is in his 20s. Aww.

Loved the scene at the Inn, too. It's nice to see hobbits that are not completely suspicious of Rangers or other strangers, and so friendly to elves, too! Very nice.

Reading on..

Author Reply: Frodo's going to realize very soon that this will be the adventure in which he gets to ask all his questions. He's been waiting since "Quarantined" (2002!) for that chance!

It's been fun taking just *one* of the twins and crafting a story with him. :)

My dear, this is beyond beautiful. Now I'll spend the day longing for that song you described so poetically, and the last sentence wll make me smile whenever I think of it. Thank you so very much for the sweetness and comfort of your writing, always.

*hugs you, just because*

I seem to have an insatiable need to make my hobbity world 'sweet and comforting', so I do thank you very much for such lovely words.

Elladan is a great brother to Estel, I love the way they treat each other, also Elladan talking to the tree. Wouldn't want any limbs falling on them overnight.

Author Reply: I'm really enjoying writing this journey, and imagining what might happen along the way. If Dorothy had asked permission of the trees in Oz to take some apples, maybe they wouldn't have become so upset!

Just as sweet as all your stories. Keep up the good work. Will we be seeing Elrohir in this story?

Author Reply: Thank you very much. No, there will only be one Elf in this story. :)

Hmm! It was worth being out of internet range to come back to such a lovely chapter.

Author Reply: What a lovely thing to say. :)

Frodo sat transfixed, as spellbound as the rest. Elladan’s voice was unlike anything he had heard before – almost as if more than one melody was coming from his throat, the notes liquid as a waterfall, as bright as the stars. He could almost see what Elladan was singing...

Beautifully written, shirebound! I wished I could listen to an Elf singing!

And I enjoyed Frodo's questions a great deal! They are very clever ones. Elladan and Elrohir have indeed the job of Rangers.

Have I ever told you how much I like your Tolkien quote at the beginning of each chapter? Great job :)

Author Reply: Thank you, Andrea; don't we all wish we could hear that! And I appreciate you mentioning the quote. I started that awhile back, for some stories, to tie the more 'AU' tales in with canon... but I enjoyed doing it so much, now I preface nearly every chapter of my stories with some type of quote.

shirebound,

Wonderful chapter, thoroughly enjoyed the inn scenes and the descriptions of Scamp's part of the adventure.

Ooooh! This made my day! How lovely to find this chapter this morning. I loved all of it, particularly Elladan singing, the love between him and Estel and Frodo being responsible (and being praised for it).

I giggled at his question to Estel - "Do you get paid for Rangering?" *snert*

All this and Scamp too! *happy sigh*

Author Reply: Your happiness makes *me* happy, BB. Frodo's come a long way from the uncertain child in "Quarantined", but continues to bloom when given words of praise and loving friendships -- as do most of us.

But an Elf, now, here was a rare sight. Lamps had been lit in the common room, and the hearth crackled with bright flame, but he would swear this Elf carried his own light with him, a strange radiance that you could almost see if you didn’t quite look at him...

Wow, what a great description! It would be lovely to see an Elf. *sighs dreamily* I've seen Elladan and Elrohir in a rather long and pleasant dream...I'll never forget that dream! *sighs once more*

Elladan’s voice was unlike anything he had heard before – almost as if more than one melody was coming from his throat, the notes liquid as a waterfall, as bright as the stars. He could almost see what Elladan was singing...

Oh, how beautiful. I would absolutely LOVE to hear him sing. I can just imagine it...

The conversation with the tree was intreging (sp?) too. And I love the brotherly love between Elladan and Aragorn!

P.S: Are we going to meet Elrohir? Just wondering.

Author Reply: Thank you, Jane. My, what lovely dreams you have! Maybe the twins will sing to you some night.

I don't believe Elrohir will be making an appearance in this fic, but both twins play a major role in "Mind to Mind", if you wish to check out that story.
