Mask of Virtue  by Linda Hoyland 39 Review(s)

A joy it is to hunt this out at last and read it, Linda.

Yes, this is our Aragorn, who is ever desirous to temper justice with mercy when it is right, and who certainly deserves a more comfortable--and less hideous--chair! What a wonderful gift! And I rejoice Ostopher and Melian have found joy together! Thanks for a wonderful story!

Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I'm delighted you enjoyed this story so much. Aragorn certainly deserves a comfortable chair and the young lovers some happiness.

I really enjoyed reading this one Linda.
I don't suppose Faramir will really want the chair. Chop it up!

Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I'm delighted you enjoyed the story. The ultimate fate of the chair is revealed on my LJ!(tongue in cheek)I wish Aragorn had chopped it up!

A chair! I knew he was going to make him a better chair!
A very satisfactory conclusion. Great story!

Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I'm pleased you enjoyed the story and the part about the chair.I thought poor Aragorn deserved to be comfortable!

I like how you use modern concepts (massage, counselling techniques) and integrate them into this setting. You do it very convincingly. I had to laugh at the idea of a special detention cell for obnoxious dignitaries! Oh, and you brought Ioreth into the story and made her speak for woman power. Yay! The dilemma Aragorn finds himself in is very well put.

So Arwen's advice is invaluable and a solution is found. I admit I had to laugh at the Gondorian view that exile to the North was considered a fate worse than death! A most enjoyable read all round.

Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I'm delighted you enjoyed the story.I admit,as a Northerner myself I was influenced by the views of some people who dwell in the South, but then we think much the same!

Oh, very clever, Aragorn’s lie detector method! Ostopher is becoming very likable in this chapter, especially when he speaks about his craft. I like the way you put so many nuances into the developing conversation.

Indeed, it is scandalous! Lord Denethor would never have allowed it! LOL
Well, I can see the plot thicken...

A man wearing only his drawers? Oh, my! What an intriguing start to a story. ;-) And it is funny and touching, that Aragorn immediately thinks of increasing security for Arwen...

I like your sensitive take on the relationship between Aragorn and Faramir, which you illuminate with just a couple of sentences. Aragorn playing the part of Sherlock Holmes is a very original and amusing idea.

And this was the best chapter yet. Didn't I say that Aragorn would come up with a just and kindly solution to the problem. And he didn't let me down; with Arwen's wise help he certainly did.

The wise healer king most certainly deserves that masterpiece of a chair in which he can comfortably sit in.

Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I'm delighted you enjoyed the chapter. You are good at guessing!Arwen's wisdom is a great asset to Aragorn.

Heheh! An appropriate end to Denethor's chair ;P

Good ol' Arwen and her wise ways. You know us of the fairer sex certainly seem to possess more of it... (j/k... or am I?) ;)

Hope they live happily in the north. And, first things first, Aragorn needs to start altering the laws... slowly but surely...

Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I like to portray Arwen as the wise one in the marriage.I know she is very old,but lots of ladies I know would identify with her and I'd agree!I'm sure Aragorn will work hard to bring justice to the land.
