Elf, Interrupted: Book Two: Glorfindel's Quest  by Fiondil 12 Review(s)

I think someone(s) is/are going it be in sooo much trouble! Can't wait to find out what their conspirators did in Lorien. I wonder what lies in wait for the intrepid warriors on the quest to speak to Ingwion. Another enjoyable chapter as always!

Author Reply: As to how much trouble they will be in remains to be seen. *grin* We'll find out what happened back in Lórien in the next chapter. All I will say for now is that Finrod will be very... um... unhappy. *hee*

Ah ha, I knew it, a small detour on the way to Tirion. This is scary, I am starting to think like Glorfindel!
Irmo knows exactly just what Glorfindel is doing and just how invisible are those Maiar he sent with him and supposedly recalled to Lorien?
Am I right in thinking that they have found their way to the Veil of Tears, that misty revine seems awfully familiar?
I can understand how Glorfindel feels, he can't do anything without somebody looking over his shoulder, second guessing him. It must be frustrating, but he does need to talk to Ingwion even if he does have to come in the back door, so to speak!
More please,
Lynda

Author Reply: You are correct about the valley they are in... we will see what transpires within the valley soon enough and just what Irmo knows or doesn't know.

I’ll bet they never considered who sent the storm. They are in such trouble; the thought of what will happen next has me waiting anxiously to find out.

Author Reply: Assuming anyone sent it... it could just be a storm. As to what happens to them... you'll just have to wait and see.

Hey, aren't they at the Fana Nirion? *wonders if Glorfi and Ingwi will be meeting sooner rather than later* I wonder if Glorfi & co. will each have to face his inner demons, too, as it were. Interesting...can't wait to see what happens next!!

~Kaylee!

Author Reply: Yes, they are at the Fana Nírion. As to what will happen to them remains to be seen.

Ah, a familiar mist-shrouded valley, and it appears they may be reaping their just desserts! Heh!

Author Reply: They may indeed, but time alone will tell.

Glorfindel certainly is one sneaky Noldo... I wonder if Irmo let those three get away on purpose?
And why are the Valar trying to keep Ingwion and Glorfindel separate even though they suspect that Atar's behind their urge to meet? That's strange...
That valley shrouded in mist... isn't that were Ingwion and the others are camping?
That would lead me to wonder if that storm was sent by someone. Or am I overinterpreting things?

You see I can hardly wait for the next chapter!

Author Reply: The answers to your questions will be revealed in the coming chapters and sometimes a storm is just a storm.

Well, their little trick wasn't exactly honest, but then I don't understand why the Valar try to keep Ingwion and Glorfindel separated when they suspect that Atar is behind Glorfindel's feeling he has to go there, either.

As Finrod and Irmo both know the three are up to something, I wonder if Irmo allowed them to slip out on purpose. That's going to be interesting.

And of course I hope Celepharn and the others don't get into too much trouble.

Author Reply: We'll see the whys and the wherefores of all this in the upcoming chapters. It's going to take a few more to tell the entire story of Glorfindel and Ingwion.

Finrod knows Glorfindel far too well to believe his act. And his response to Irmo just confirms that. Oh, Finrod isn't going to be happy.

A blanket tug-of-war! That made me chuckle.

At least Irmo knows something and isn't actively forestalling them.

Like the three of them, I hope the Reborn don't get into trouble!

Uh-oh. That valley sounds very, very familiar. I'm dreading- just a little- what will happen next.

Interesting set-up. Things are about to get interesting.

~ Indy

Author Reply: Things are always interesting where Glorfindel is concerned. *grin* But I agree that in this case things are going to get even more interesting. The valley is indeed *the* valley... as to what will happen there remains to be seen. And the Reborn won't be in too much trouble... Irmo knows is elflings almost as well as his brother does. *grin*

Very tricky chapter, with all the who-knew-what-whens and who-suspected-what-whens.

So for all their ... dubious behavior, shall we say? ... the first consequence is that Glorfindel, Sador, and Beleg have been drenched in a storm. I'm sure that won't be all that happens to them as a result of this escapade!

"Glorfindel is always up to something" -- Truer words....

I'm wondering what Celepharn and his friends have been doing. Painting something else? (Horses? Each other? Estë's lake [in Chicago they dye the river for St. Patrick's Day; it could be done]?)

As always, I'm trying to figure out what's going to happen next. In this case, by looking at the comparative timelines: in the Ingwion-Aldundil-Vorondil timeline, the threatened storm hasn't occurred yet (or if it did, I missed it), but in the Glorfindel-Beleg-Sador timeline, the storm hit the Fana Nirion when they arrived there. So did Glorfindel et al arrive in the Fana Nirion *before* Ingwion & co. (and maybe are already at Nienna's, huddled in warm blankets and driving her crazy -- with the Maiar amused in the background)? Or were Ingwion & co. elsewhere (perhaps at their camp) when the storm hit, and by the time the three Reborn arrive, they had already returned to their camp, or even to Nienna's? Or are both groups going to meet up in the Fana in the downpour? Or....

Just answer "Yes" or "No." 8-)

Author Reply: We will see in the next chapter how the two timelines meet up....

This was indeed a tricky chapter but I'm glad it worked out. Next chapter we'll learn what the Reborn in Lórien have been up to.

Oooh. Thunderstorm. I would kill for a thnderstorm right about now. Storms are much, much nicer than snow. And both are nicer from inside a warm, cosy house. -winces- Poor Glorfindel/Sador/Beleg

That being said, wonderful chapter and, as usual, I cannot wait for the next. And, apparently, I cannot type after playing my flute for an extended period of time. I had to put this through spellcheck. O.o.

~GF

Author Reply: I prefer my thunderstorms (and snowstorms) in the safety of a nice warm, cosy house myself. *grin* I'm glad you enjoyed this chapter and am looking forward to the next, and the next, and the next.... *grin*
