Elf, Interrupted: Book Two: Glorfindel's Quest  by Fiondil 8 Review(s)
KittyReviewed Chapter: 142 on 8/7/2010
Ouch. That was to be expected, but it still wasn't pleasant. While I had known Sador would be angry, I hadn't expected him to think they want to get rid of him. Glad Arafinwë came in and took over before things got out of hand; he managed quite well to calm Sador down. Hopefully the poor guy now feels better. And I think it's a great idea to take Rumilion and the other two with him. He needs some people he knows and trusts.

Author Reply: Arafinwë has been an atto long enough to know how to smooth ruffled feathers among his children. Finrod and the others aren't experienced enough and they were just making things worse in their attempts to placate Sador, who didn't want to be placated. Arafinwë was able to put things in perspective for Sador which has helped him to be more accepting of what is happening. And yes, having Rúmilion and his cousins with him will be a tremendous help.

Thanks for the review, Kitty.

At least he now knows he is not alone.

Author Reply: And that's the important thing, isn't it?

Finrod and the otohers just weren't listening to what sador was saying, were they? I loved the way Arafinwe handled things. I can think of no one better to have handled that situation. Poor Sador! At least he was starting to accept his fate there at the end and get his mind around some of the things he would need to do. Too bad Alassiel couldn't go with him!

Author Reply: No, I don't think they were, though they were doing their best. Still, Sador really needed the calm maturity and wisdom that only an atar can give and Arafinwe has that in spades. And yes, it is a pity Alassiel can't go with him at this time, but eventually she will join him on the island, I have no doubt. Thanks for reading and reviewing, Ellie. I appreciate it very much.

Arafinwë is just the medicine Sador needed to get over his initial shock. Now he can start down the road to being the person he was meant to be.

Author Reply: Very true, Tari. Thank you for your thoughts. I appreciate them very much.

Wise Arafinwe! But as my grandmother sometimes said, "Wisdom is the daughter of experience." I wonder what Arafinwe went through when ending up as Noldoran to be able to counsel Sador so well, but he's the perfect one to do it!

After all, it's his fault Sador is Cano anyway, so...drat, I can't say he's being promoted, but let's just say someone took a leaf out of Finrod's book somewhere. *lol*

Loved it! I do wonder how Alassiel's going to handle the separation...

Tye-melin Atar Fiondil!

Kaylee

Author Reply: Yes, Arafinwe is very wise, which is why he is the best person to help Sador through this time. When I finally post my Darkening story we'll see something of what Arafinwe experienced during that time that made him the wise king that he is here.

And I'm sure Alassiel will endure the separation as well as Sador, which is to say, not very well at all. *grin*

Thanks for reading and reviewing, Kaylee.

Well, Sador really must be more mature than his otornor - as far as I can see he hasn't even contemplated running away from his appointment.
Or perhaps it hasn't really sunk in yet? :-D

Author Reply: Sador didn't have as far to go towards maturity, but you are probably more correct than not, Sunny, that it just hasn't sunk in yet. He may do a bunk later, or at least try to. *grin*

Well, as always, you show your mastery of the world and politics of Valinor, not to mention some in depth characterisations of some of the notables of Tolkien's canon along with some beautifully drawn original characters. You do bring these people to life. Your depictions of these are a like a breath of fresh air in amongst the sometimes cloying, even if well written, depictions of the bliss of Valinor - which evidently, as I suspected, is probably not as blissful as many would have us believe!

Poor old Sador, what a task he's been given, but I have no doubt it will make a man...er...elf of him!

Author Reply: Hello Shemyaza. Thank you so much for this review. I am so glad you find my characters, both canon and OC, so believable and that you find them a breath of fresh air. It always seeemed to me that while Valinor might have been a place of bliss when Elrond and Galadriel finally got there, it would not have been so in earlier ages. Certainly what Melkor did (and then the Noldor) put pay to the idea that Valinor was always a paradise. Too much darkness had seeped into its soil. In fact, I always thought Varda raising the dome of protection after Melkor and the Noldor fled as a case of closing the barn door after the horses had already gotten out. *grin*

Anyway,Sador will do well enough, I am sure. There's more to him than meets the eye, which is why the Valar were grooming him for the position.

Thanks for reading and reviewing. I greatly appreciate it.

A not unexpected response to having the job of Cano thrust upon him. Sador must feel that everybody was deserting him. Trust Atto to help him with his doubts and insecurities but, he has made his first decision, two in fact in wanting Kortirion as his base and Rumillion and his cousins to come with him. Give him some time to get used to the idea and Sador will do well in his position and the Valar will always be there for him,no matter what!

Author Reply: Sador will do well enough. He just needed to vent a bit and get it all out of his system. He's much stronger than he seems at times. I have no fear for him in his new role.
