What a lovely vignette, Linda! I just came down with a cold yesterday, and could sure use a purring ginger cat to help keep me warm.... since there is nary an Elf or Peredhel around when you need one! *grumbles* The hospitality of the Hobbit family is perfect, as is the fact that the cat recognized the King before anyone else did.... Well done! - Barbara Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I'm delighted you enjoyed this.My Leo is perfect when I'm under the weather as he always helps me keep warm. I'm pleased you liked the cat and the Hobbits. I hope your cold is soon better.

That last line turned this from a good fic into a great one! I'm very glad the Burrows family took such a scruffy fellow in and took such good care of him, especially on recommendation of the cat! Thank you for this - it so well observed, and all the hobbits clear as individuals with just a few strokes of the pen, so to speak. And a perfect last line. Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I'm pleased you enjoyed the my story, especially as I rarely write Hobbits.

Linda, I liked the original version of this story, but this extended version is much better. It's such an enchanting vignette. I'm glad Aragorn found his way into the barn of such a family of kindhearted hobbits, and that he had the benefit of Peony's warm drinks to help him to pull through the fever. And Marmelad is indeed a most wise cat. It goes without saying that the ending is pure delight. Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I'm pleased you enjoyed the revised version of my story. Raksha has helped a great deal to improve it."Marmalade" is on my lap as I type!

Aw...I love this use of the little Burrowses! Milo and Peony are good sorts, aren't they? But of course, being kin to our heroes they would be! I like that they felt the cat was a good judge of character! (And he was right, wasn't he?) Excellent use as well of the old hobbit saying about "when the King comes back"! Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I'm pleased you enjoyed the story. It was Raksha's excellent idea to use the Burrowses. I think cats do judge people well.I love the old Hobbit saying!

Wonderful story! What a lovely birthday present to wake up to this morning... it had everything that I like, a feverish Ranger, cats ... you even managed peach pie! And the hobbit family is adorable--“Is it dangerous, Milo?” had me laughing aloud. Imagine anyone calling Strider an "it". Thank you and Raksha both for the lovely birthday present! Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I'm pleased you enjoyed your birthday present and hope you are enjoying your day.I added the peach pie specially for you, while Raksha found a suitable Hobbit family.I'm pleased the story made you laugh too.

I like that Ponto's sister is the one to aid Aragorn. But then I've come to love the whole Baggins/Brandybuck/Took family, as multiply crossed over as they all appear to have been! And like Marmalade's caring for Aragorn, too, as well as the irony of the comment about the cat. The cat is perhaps a bit more knowledgable than Peony is. Heh! Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I'm pleased you enjoyed the story. It was Raksha's excellent idea to use this family of Hobbits! I think cats know far more than they let on!
