I've told you already how much I enjoyed this lovely vignette, but it bears repeating. It's such a vivid, and warmhearted tale. It's wonderful to see Aragorn and Faramir have such a well deserved and idyllic respite from their toils. I most certainly wouldn't want to deal with a grumpy Aragorn. Healers most certainly are not good patients. I loved the picture of Mista suckling the kitten. Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review. I agree and don't envy Faramir one bit! I would have loved to see Mista and the kitten!

I find myself grinning to think that age might be catching up with Aragorn somewhat! Heh! And love the greyhound nursing the kitten. Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review. I'm pleased you enjoyed reading about the kitten. Let us hope Aragorn is right about it just being a strained muscle!

Well, we had one dog that wanted to mother any baby animal she came across, and when she had milk gladly suckled kittens as well as other females' puppies. She did draw the line, however, at trying to clean the bottoms of ducklings and chicks, although she would allow them to snuggle up to her, gravid or not. As a pomeranian, however, she was more of a size to actually mother a kitten than would be most greyhounds I've seen. Delightful to know Aragorn would go down a cliff to rescue a kitten! Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review. Thank you for sharing the story of your adorable sounding dog.I wish I could have seen her with her fosterlings! I feel Aragorn is caring enough to rescue kittens.

I liked this story when I read the first version of it. I like it even better now. It's a sweet one. Trust Aragorn to be indignant at the cruelty exerted against the little kitten. It is so like him to risk bodily harm to save to little creature. I'm glad she found such a wonderful foster mom. Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review. I'm pleased you liked this longer and more polished version of the prompt.I can just imagine Aragorn saving a kitten!

This lovely vignette had me chuckling out loud with Aragorn and Faramir. It must have felt wonderful to be so remembered for so long. It's no wonder Aragorn was so delighted. The fact that the younger generation 'just go along to enjoy the feast' rang very true to life too.

Oh well done, Linda, that's just too funny! I can't help wondering just how long Aragorn and Faramir are going to be able to keep up the pretence.

A funny chapter - it had to happen sometime! I love the idea of a Captain's Day honoring the legendary Thorongil's defeat of the Corsairs - it would be natural for seacoast towns to venerate a defeat of their most bitter and immediate enemy in this way; and the new, distant king's visit might well seem far less important in comparison.
