| Oh! This is so beautiful and touchd my heart in so many ways. It's hard to find words that seem appropriate for how this story made me feel. I loved the ideas of Eldarion drawing his mother, and that Arwen herself drew. I like to think she enjoyed somthing artistic like that. I also liked how you named the daughters after famous Numenorean women. As a big Numenorean fan I liked that detail a lot. :-D You did beautifully and I'm so deeply touched. Thank you for this. And I too hope you will write the reactions of Elrond and the others when the pictres reach Valinor. Just from reading this I know you could do it justice. Really well done! | What a thoughtful gift! It wouldn't last forever, of course - like all meterial things. Elrond and Celebrian would see these sheets crumbling to dust, too, one day. But until then, they have this last message from their daughter. Immortality is a daunting concept indeed. Author Reply: I hope that the gift will last a lot - perhaps even the ruining of material things goes more slowly in the Blessed Realm? I don't know. But I believe Elrond and Celebrian would be glad to receive this gift, and hopefully, it would be easier for them to wait until the final end and reunion. That will be a day of such joy for them! | I do not believe that the good professor did ever say how many, just "daughters". Every author has their own list. This is lovely! Made not only by her own hands, but children and grandchildren for as long as could be, right up to the day Legolas left. Was it Emerson who said that "things" are not really gifts, the best gift is a piece of ourselves? The description of walking through the palace with Legolas and feeling that the place was now empty reminded me of going to the house of my Grandmother, who died at age 94, after her death. Lots of relatives milling around, but still the house felt "empty"! Author Reply: Yes, it is best to put a part of yourself into a gift. I mean, everybody can buy something, or have something done; but actually to create something, to put yourself into it... that is more special. And Arwen is also special, I believe, and she knows it too; that's why she made this gift. Thank you! | |
