And the choice is offered--and made; the invitation given and spurned.

I can see it all too well.

Author Reply: This is the real problem with unrepentance, sadly.

A brilliant poetic and convincing evocation. Gave me a shiver.

Author Reply: Thanks! This is really the first time I've tried so experimental a style, so I'm pleased to hear that it succeeded for you, at least.

*nods* Yes, rejection-- not by the One who waits, but by the one who will not accept. Sad, but true.

Author Reply: I have a feeling that's how most failed repentances work.

Celeritas! Thank you so much for this mathom. Oh, how my heart ached, especially as I could feel Eru trying to reach out to His wayward sons, those two slowly driven mad by this emptiness, this separation, yet this feeling of something just *there*, just out of reach because they can't remember how to reach it...*shudder* Well done! Thank you so much, and again, happy birthday!

Author Reply: Thanks! There is, of course, all of eternity, or at least till the Second Music, for them to come 'round, but...

The Bible describes hell as weeping and gnashing of teeth. I've always thought that the gnashing meant anger, directed at God because they just can't realize how to repent... I don't think Sauron would want to be found for a good many millennia.
