Oh, I can SO see this letter being written! And I suspect the friendship gift is as welcome as the sentiments so well expressed!

Author Reply: I love imagining Gloin receiving this letter and feeling fatherly pride and joy.

While I was here, I gave this one another read. I just love this letter and the thought behind it. I can just imagine how very proud Gloin must have been when he read it and I can see him sharing it with his close friends.

Author Reply: Thank you, my friend! We're so lucky to be able to share our delight with these characters. Dear Gloin beaming away, and bragging to his cousins and friends... love it.

What a lovely letter that would be to receive.

Author Reply: Thank you. It's fun to imagine Pippin writing it and Gloin receiving it.

Wow, Pippin knows how to write a formal letter! I'm impressed.

But he wouldn't be Pippin if he hadn't added an informal postscript :-)

I'm sure they will enjoy the Longbottom Leaf!

Author Reply: Thank you. I tried to show a balance between the serious nature of this letter and Pip's natural Tookish exuberance. :)

I love this letter, formal as one would expect from the future Thain but also full of respect and admiration for his friend and the warmest is the P.S. - very Pippin like at the end. Going to be taking my usual Lenten fast from hobbity reading so look forward to catching up after Easter!

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author Reply: Thank you for reading, Antane. I can imagine Gimli blustering with equal parts embarrassment and pleasure if he found out about this letter.

"Truants"!!

love it!

thanks for the smile.

(Lin, who saw this on LJ yesterday but couldn't resist re-reading this morning)

Author Reply: Thank you, Lin! I love when Gimli calls Merry and Pippin "woolly-footed and wool-pated truants" in the book. :)
