Murder Most Foul  by Larner 4 Review(s)

Sounds like Benargil is worried about his job security. With good reason since Aragorn isn't simply affirming the existing vassalships. Regarding the "Book of Shadows," so few people in that town could read it that it's some excuse for him just tossing it in the trash.

Author Reply: Oh, yes, a good many of the lords of the land have reason to question whether or not they'll be allowed to continue as they were. And where literacy isn't necessarily universal, I doubt that too many would bother with a book found on the trash heap. Also, since it was written in Sindarin and much of the business of the realm is now done in Westron, there's another reason why few would bother it. But it would appear that the book didn't rest there long....

Why would Bernagil throw The Book of Shadows in the trash? Did he not know someone might find it who could read? I think he offered more information in defense of the three lads than he intended.

Author Reply: Well, Enelmir, who believed in the existence of "dark agents," was after him to rid the house of it. And, as one who doesn't read Sindarin himself, he's not actually read it himself. Yes, anyone might have found it--and obviously someone did! Heh! But as Danarion doesn't read much in the way of Sindarin--not as yet, at least--it didn't do him a lot of good or bad.

And, yes, he's given more information to the good of the three than he realized.

Thanks so, Tari!

O.Kay, now let me get this straight:- Two years ago Benergal disposed of a copy of the Book of Shadows on the trash heap at the back of the house and two years ago Anarion was seen digging through the trash for 'treasures', never occured to any body that, just maybe, he found the copy of the Book of Shadows there?
Seems to me sombody failed at elementary math!

Looks like I will have to go ahead and read the first chaoter after all, I was trying to avoid it. Just what does the constable have against Anarion?

Author Reply: Just what this guy has against Danárion will be revealed eventually. And, yes, Berevrion is the first one to put it together just how the boy came across his copy of this book. Seems silly looking back on it, of course.

The first chapter I've done my best to be as non-graphic as possible, but I admit it's not necessarily an easy one to get through. So glad this has caught your attention!

So one of the mysteries has a lead and Benargil is remembering Thorongil! I wonder if Berevrion's family has had any information on the ending of the war? Waiting for word would be the worst part! Update soon please!
God Bless!

Author Reply: One question is answered, and it's such a prosaic one! Yes, Benargil is remembering Thorongil.

I, too, wonder how much those in the North knew of why their menfolk were gone so long. I may look at that someday!
