The Honorary Hobbit  by lovethosehobbits 4 Review(s)

Reading Chapter one of The Honorary Hobbit made a great day even better. I love nothing better than to read hobbitcentric stories and this chapter abounds with examples of their irresistable charm. Even in a weakened state, your Frodo shows his inner metal, but you didn't neglect that vulnerability that inspires others to care for him.
I feel The impetous for this story hinges upon Frodo's comment that he felt like a caged animal only to be released when it was time for him to carry the ring to Mordor. His dread escalated during the time he isolated himself in the sick room. He needed to put some positive, diverting experience between himself and his fear. You made the point so clearly that first he had to eat to fuel his recovery after which he could reconnect with his friends and experience the beauty and delight of the Last Homely House.
You have such a humorous, upbeat touch while being mindful that beneath the amusing spats, Frodo's heart and will are strong. I so enjoyed the bartering scene and the little touch that though Frodo attempted to eat exactly half of his meal, he couldn't resist those fresh raspberries.
"Take them ... anywhere," certainly summed up Elrond's delimma with hobbits with too much time on their hands.
Sam's short appearance and the mention of Merry and Pippin, as well as curiosity to see more of Rivendell highten my anticipation to continue this story. However, I'm enjoying it so much that I'll be pacing myself knowing I'll reach the end all too soon.

Author Reply: It's been a long time since I've received such a lovely review. I am delighted that you are enjoying the tale. My other fics might also bring you some chuckles. They are mostly always Frodo-centric, this one was suppose to be mostly about Aragorn (for a dear friend) but I just can't help myself. I have a serious Flo' Nightengale complex and love to almost kill them off, then spend the rest of the time nursing them back to health. (muhahahahha)You will never see character death in my fics and I always complete them even if it takes forever. I have another update coming up ... it's all written just needs to be typed up and posted. Thanks again for such kind words...it made my day.

Yes, I can so see that creative flair being part of Frodo's own pranks! Dear Frodo!

Hobbits! Frodo-angst! Scenic Rivendell! Aragorn!

I don't know if I should wish for Evil Cliffies or not....

Definitely looking forward to this; I miss the Budgie days.

Author Reply: I crave the Budgie days and she is one of my favorite authors. I am an angst lover and h/c and usually have a few cliffies out there to keep everyone happy. I am delighted you are enjoying the fic and promise to have more soon.
