Elf Academy Part Deux  by Fiondil 13 Review(s)
KittyReviewed Chapter: 77 on 2/1/2013
That confrontation between Amroth and Glorfindel was only to be expected. Hopefully, Glorfindel has now calmed down enough after all that stress and doesn't lose it again around the mortals.

Anger management classes for Finrod and particularly Glorfindel sound like a good idea; only problem is, I am not sure Vorondur would survive suggesting them! And btw, Finrod gives 'royally pissed' a new meaning, that fits too well :)

You know, it's said that healers are the worst patients, but I get the feelings that two certain blonde Elves are even worse than that. They're not even inside the hospital yet and I already feel sorry for the staff at St. Luke's.

Hm, stimulating blood production? Sounds much better than transfusions – no contaminations and all that. In any case, here that would be rather useful. You know, the question of blood types for Elves could be an interesting one for someone interested in such topics if they were real.

Glad everyone is alright, as much as they can be under the circumstances.

Author Reply: Hi Kitty. Glorfindel and Finrod have a lot to deal with so I'm sure Vorondur is keeping a clinical eye on the two of them. One of my betas and I had a discussion about blood types and how they could handle what would amount to alien blood, although not too alien since there is cross-breeding between Elves and Mortals and I came up with the idea that the healers from Aman might be able to stimulate blood production since they might not have developed the idea of blodd transfusions.

And everyone is alive and safe and that's all that matters at the moment.

Thanks for reviewing. I appreciate it very much.

Everyone is back to civilization and cared for. Finrod is on the mend and they can start sorting this mess out. So, Maddy was drawn to Wiseman? Then there is hope for Alex and Maddy. Now, I'm just curious about Farrell's explanation.

Author Reply: Hi obsidianj. Yes, the excitement is over with for the moment and everyone's taking a deep breath. We'll be seeing just what is in store for Maddy, Alex and Farrell over the rest of this story as we begin windng up loose ends, or at least most of them as I'm leaving it open for a *possible* sequel, though that won't see the light of day too soon. Anyway, thanks for commenting. I appreciate it very much.

Tick tock goes the clock... Things are really starting to move to some sort of epic final confrontation it seems! Sorry for not reviewing for a bit, I've been too busy keysmashing at everything going on! Poor Zach & Derek! And hello to Artemus, it's been a while. Guns vs bows *shudder* that could have gone VERY nastily for the elves if there had been a hidden sniper or some such. And now Maddy, the Boss herself is in the field? The games afoot indeed.

Author Reply: Hi bookworm. Yes, we're coming down to the end of this story (though, as you will see, I leave it open for a possible sequel sometime down the road). Things could've gone much worse than they did. Hopefully, seeing someone like Finrod getting shot will clue in the Valinórean Elves that guns are far more dangerous than they think. And with Maddy in the field, the game is indeed afoot. Thanks for reviewing. It's much appreciated.

Oops! I think I hit a wrong button. Hope my review was deleted and not posted because I did not finish. Let me start again.

Too much testosterone going around after the fight. Amroth took a chance, not a good idea or a smart move. He wasn't thinking clearly and all he got was a sore jaw and Glorfindel in his face, a very angry Glorfindel.

I'm glad Stoner is on better terms with the elves then the last time they visited the hospital with Alex/Artemus. Finrod needs to not be stubborn when being treated now that he knows what a bullet feels like. Good that Derek and Zach are on the mend.

Now that Maddy is on the scene and checked in to the Goldmine Inn, I wonder what Farrell left in the room by mistake that Maddy will find?

Alex/Artemus needs to unwind after what he has been through. Being with the elves should be safe for him if and when he gets to Edhellond.

Hope you had a nice Columbus Day weekend.

Author Reply: No problem, Clouded Leopard. People do that sometimes and either just add another review to complete their thought or I end up deleting the incomplete review.

Anyway, as for this review...

There was a lot of testosterone running loose and Amroth was trying to be noble, but as you say, all it got him was a very angry Glorfindel in his face and Finrod bleeding copiously.

Finrod, of course, is unused to the idea of any Mortal treating hin and of course his only memory of Mortal medicine is ages out of date, so it's understandable how reluctant he is to being treated by them. He'll learn differently, of course.

If Farrell left anything in his room, the maid would've cleaned it out long before this. I doubt Maddy was the next person to occupy that particular room; others may have done so before her.

And Alex/Artemus definitely needs a little down time and being surrounded by Elves should help.

Alas, we don't get Columbus Day off, or at least I don't, but I had a nice weekend all the same. Thanks and thanks for taking the time to read and review. It's very much appreciated.

Hmm. Am I the only one to think that Alex/Artemus won't reach Edhellond? What's going to happen en route?

Author Reply: Hi Jay. So far, you're the only one to voice this concern. You'll have to wait until Friday to find out if you have reason to worry. Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment. I greatly appreciate it.

They do begin their recovery now. Nice transition chapter. Hope Farrell doesn't somehow escape!

Author Reply: Yes, everyone has time to recover from this most recent crisis. I'm sure everyone will make sure Farrell doesn't escape. That's the last thing they need. Thanks for reviewing, Larner. It's much appreciated.

Seems like a lot of testosterone flying about lately. Hmm... do ellyn have testosterone? :-)

So Maddy was 'drawn to Wiseman was she? Methinks I smell a Valar.

Great chapter. Loved the emergency room. Also loved Finda's concern.

Author Reply: Very true, Agape. And I would think that ellyn would have testosterone else they would be ellith. *grin*

As for Maddy... you may be right about that. Glad you liked the emergency room scene and Finda's concern. Thanks for letting me know. I really appreciate it.

Nice chapter, now the disaster is over (at least, I hope so, even if Artemus suggested that they would need more people watching over Finrod) and people are either recovering or otherwise safe. Finrod doesn't sound like a good patient, though.

Interesting point about blood transfusion for the Elves. It's quite possible that human blood won't work. It's actually good that it was one of the "real" Elves who got shot and not either of the part human, part elven twins, that would have been even more difficult unless they could tolerate both human and elvish blood...

Hard to guess what Maddy is going to do, but I'll be disappointed in her if she lets Farrel go without a trial.

Author Reply: Hi someone. Yes, the disaster is over with until the next crisis, of course. *grin*. And healers often make very lousy patients, so I'm not surprised at Finrod's attitude. one of my betas and I had a long discussion about transfusions when it came to Elves and how tricky that would be. As for Maddy... we'll just have to wait and see what she decides. Thanks for reviewing. It's much appreciated.

Well, the aftermath. I'm curious about Farrell and Maddy, but I think that I can manage the waiting, I already survived all your cliffhangers. Yes, I'm very happy with Artemus now, more comfortable that it is him the one taking actions than Alex.
Yeah, I wanted to punch Amroth as well, very heroic but very idiotic. And love the Twins' understanding, they have been always with Glorfindel, so they really know him very well. And Glorfindel is very mortal sometimes, punching Amroth doesn't strike me as very elvish method.

Author Reply: Hi Fantasia. And Artemus is pretty much in his element here, as it's what he's been trained for after all. As for Glorfindel... I think his frustration just got the better of him with Amroth and decided to make his point in a very physical way. At least, Amroth (and the other Elves) got the message, which is the important thing.

Thanks for reading and reviewing. I very much appreciate it.

Hmmmm... so Maddy was also drawn to Wiseman? I'm liking the sounds of that! We haven't seen much of her, but I'm betting she could also use a significant amount of restorative time. (And yes, I'm doing a happy dance at the suggestion of the possibility of this most enjoyable story becoming a trilogy!)

Poor Finrod - well, he's in luck, because there are hundreds of Mortal languages from which he can add to his "colourful" repertoire. I'm glad to see that Dr. Stoner has come to value the counsel and skills of the Elves, that Derek and Zach are recovering and I'm very glad Glorfindel just about took off Amroth's head and isn't taking any chances with the baddies.

Author Reply: Hi Lyana. I think lots of readers are curious about Maddy being drawn to Wiseman and the why behind it, which we will learn about soon enough. And while I have left this story open to the possibility of a sequel, it will not be anytime soon. We'll have to see what the Muse has to say about it, but I wouldn't be surprised if there is one eventually.

And poor Finrod indeed, as we will see soon enough. *grin* Derek and Zach will do well enough and Amroth had it coming, no doubt about that.

Thanks for taking the time to comment. I greatly appreciate you doing so.
