I do believe that, in this chapter alone, you have captured everything I love most about Aragorn and presented it with near-heartbreaking clarity: his quiet calm, his kind dignity, his acceptance of duty, his wisdom, his unshakable belief in the things he stands for, his sense of honesty and fairness, his humilty, his resolute commitment to become whom is meant to be... Naturally, I could go on.

I have fallen ridiculously in love with your writing, and I am not ashamed to admit that I may have jumped up and down (just a tad) at the mention of a sequel. Thank you so much for sharing this incredible story!

Author Reply: Thank you so much for the wonderful review! I'm glad you liked my portrayal of Aragorn. Those traits you listed are what drew me to his character in the first place and what I love about him so much . . . but at the same time, they must make it so very hard to be him at times.

The epilogue should be up tomorrow. I hope you enjoy!

Whoo hoo! What a great ride you've taken on us. I never thought I'd visit harad or its farmlands. This was such fun.

You are a great story teller. Can't wait to see the epilogue and the sequel. Life is good!

Sorry - I rambled on about your Bill the Pony story and then went to look for it..... and it's not your story :( But I went and re-read all your other stories to make up for the mixing up of authors. :D I can't wait to see what else you write.

Author Reply: LOL, I was a touch confused . . . Perhaps you're thinking of Lindelea's story? If so, I'm flattered! ;-)

I can't wait for the ending. This has been a very well written story with wonderful characterisation. I felt your people were real people. Please post some updates on all your other stories as well. Especially the one about Bill the Pony. :) They are also good stories that deserve to be completed.

Happy writing

Hooray for Aragorn!I love the way he managed to triumph even as a slave.Hakim's father paid dearly for what he did. I'm thrilled to learn there will be a sequel.
Eagerly awaiting to see what happens between Hakim and Aragorn as king.

Author Reply: Thanks, Linda! I hope you enjoy the epilogue.

I am thankful that Aragorn found compassion and real friendship during his captivity and eventual transfer into real slavery. I specially like that scene where Hakim watches him go out thru the gates.

The story of his earlier raid in Umbar is a bit disturbing, but as he says, that's war. Still, his feeling of responsibility and how he means to make amends more than makes up for it.

For a moment there I wondered how he would get the ring of Barahir back, but you wound it up neatly, as usual. It was a beautiful story and I really enjoyed it. Hoping for more.... ;-)

Author Reply: Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed the friendship that developed between Aragorn and Hakim. I'll admit it was a little unlikely, given the age gap and the other differences between them, but I quite enjoyed writing it.

Thank you!

I don't know what else to say other than "beautiful." So much emotion in such concise writing.
Can't wait for the sequel.

Author Reply: Aw, thank you! I hope you enjoy the epilogue and the sequel.

Oh, most satisfactory! And that was how the sword came back to Hakim and the ring back into Aragorn's hands! Trust Aragorn to find ways to make things right in the end with this family. Too bad about Azzam's drinking, though. Punishing himself that way was so unnecessary! And love Aragorn's activities elsewhere! Oh, yes!

Author Reply: Thank you so much for the wonderful review! I'm so glad you found the conclusion to this part of the story satisfying. I hope you enjoy the epilogue!

This is such a glorious story, I just want to highlight two lines I find the most moving:

The shuttered light that I’d glimpsed on rare occasions now shines forth, uncovered and undimmed.

There will be peace between our peoples someday, Hakim. The days of men are short . . . but not so short that we should give up hope of seeing that peace.

Author Reply: Thank you so much for reviewing! Those lines, in particular, were ones that I fiddled with and agonized over, so I'm glad they worked in the end.
