How lovely! I read this 10 years late, but it is still beautiful. And it is almost Advent now. I remembered Fiondil's stories fondly, too.

These were excellent ficlets. I've just finished reading them. I enjoyed them though I rarely read Silmarillion stories Author Reply: And I rarely write them, as you know. ;) I'm glad that you enjoyed them nonetheless.

This is so sad, but it has an inner logic that I can't deny. Another one to blame on Feanor. What was he thinking... Author Reply: *Was* he thinking at all, to begin with? I have my doubts...

A lovely promise of hope in this poor child, bereft of his father. As for Curufinwe--why am I not surprised? Love the whole series! Author Reply: As I love yours! Thanks for the continuing support, it means a lot to me! Author Reply: As I love yours! Thanks for the continuing support, it means a lot to me!

Oh, I love seeing Galion here as well as Oropher. And the thought of losing their home twice saddens but does not surprise me. Author Reply: They did have a harsh fate, for sure, but they managed to build themselves a good life nonetheless, and that all on their own. I think that deserves respect.

An interesting take on elven history. I like the idea of Kôr being the original stronghold at Amon Lanc which later became Dol Guldur. And it is ironic that Oropher's House lost their ancient homeland twice, but his son, Thranduil, did well enough in the end. Author Reply: The Elvenking was my second love (Elrond being then first) and I alwys thought that he rocked, facing Dol Guldur by ordinary means, without the help of any magic trinkets. That must have been tough. Which is why I loved the respect shown to him in EA 3 so much.

Sorry I haven't reviewed lately, but this time of year is very hectic. I have been reading though and enjoying each story. This story, however, struck a cord with me, for I was trying to place this on the Darkening timeline. Has Arafinwë not returned yet? For I would think he would squash the anger and all against the innocent very quickly. Or is he still on the road back and when he returns he will find half his remaining household mysteriously gone? They were all insane, I think, and no one from the Valar on down was thinking straight about anything. One of these days I'd like to continue my Darkening story to describe the steps Arafinwë took to reclaim the respect of the other clans for the Noldor who remained behind. I think that's a story worth telling. Author Reply: Frankly, I didn't give the timeline much thought, as I'm not as well-versed in the First Age as I probably should be. I just wanted to address this particular event that was already mentioned in "Elvenhome". These little nothings are just ideas that I couldn't fit into the already overloaded storyline. And believe me, I know about hectic. Christmas break couln't come soon enough. When I've caught up with all the things that had to be put on hold because of work, I might have a couple of days to do something I actually enjoy.
